I am working on a video sequence and after creating a couple of clips( around 10 of them) after a week now that I am adding new clips, when I click on old ones it immediately crashes !
The latest version is installed, and “NO” I would not reinstall the software; it is not an option now that I am on a deadline.
by the way, no overheating or over use for GPU and CPU was detected.
I apologize for the inconvenience. Were the old clips created in the same version as the one you are currently using? Just to be sure, can you send us the following images?
You may also send us your D5 Files so we can try to replicate the issue on our end and see if it is mainly caused by D5 Render itself or the PC Environment. Please send it to support@d5techs.com and have it titled ‘Clov-Forum: Clicking on a video clip causes crash’
The issue might be related to GPU usage or temperature at that time. I suggest running D5 Render by itself or only with the necessary applications for your workflow. Please let us know if the problem persists. It would also be helpful to open Task Manager > Performance while the issue is occurring to monitor system resources. Thank you.
this is the image of performance when no app is running,
the only thing that raises when D5 is running is the RAM which goes up to 24GB usage of 32 total
however, this does not look like a memory or GPU issue. it crashes suddenly and it is obvious the system is not under any new pressure at the moment of clicking on the other clip.
By the way, it is happening on certain clips that I was already working on and did not make to save so I want to redo my edits, I mean, basically, clips have not changed yet since the last time I was able to click on them.
ps. I am running D5 on smooth to reduce the pressure
I opened an older D5 file which is for a couple of hours ago(a file from before it crashed and I recovered it and saved it as new) and tried to check the settings for the clip and faced a crash there too. so basically that clip is crashing on another file too. note that there is also 5 clips from couple of weeks ago(first 5) which are crashing too) exactly same as it was when I started the topic
opening D5 stand-alone
opening with Sketchup
opening the old D5 file
removing or turning off massive parts of the model in case it was heavy
turning off the system for half an hour in case something is wrong or some temperature
issue
turning off dynamic and putting D5 on smooth mode
in all situations, these clips are causing sudden D5 close:
The ones that I had issues with before and solved by themselves after a while(it is odd that the “clip 1” did not crash!)
Again! The problem is gone after a while when I started to recreate the crashing clips from scratch. I suddenly clicked on the crashing clips and now they are all working fine!
I apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused. I have noticed that you have posted multiple concerns on your end in our forum, does it occur in this single file? Nevertheless, Could you perhaps send us your D5 Scene File and Log File so we can further test this issue? You may send it to support@d5techs.com and have it titled “Clov-Forum Clicking on a Clip in Video causes Crash”
Hi @clovisbolasco14
Thank you for your response,
The folder you mentioned is over 8GB. do you want me to send it all? If so, is it possible to send you a Dropbox link instead of uploading the whole folder?
You can zip the folder instead then proceed to transfer it via WeTransfer or DropBox link, either way would suffice. Just make sure that the D5 Folder is zipped so the file size can be reduced. Please send your Scene File and Log File
Thank you @clovisbolasco14
I have sent the Dropbox link of both D5 folder(zipped) and the log file
However, I am not sure what you meant by Scene file. Do you need the Sketchup file link too?
I have received your files and our team will begin testing it. I will be giving you updates as soon as possible, if you have any queries or additional information you may post directly on this topic or message me here in the forum. Thank you so much.
I just opened your file and began testing it. I do suggest optimizing your assets by hiding them when they are not evident in certain scenes, the file size alone is an indicator that the file is heavy and may cause problems if not optimized accordingly.
For reference this is my statistics while running your file, please confirm if you have opened your task manager while running the D5 File since there seems to be a huge difference in the GPU Utilization Percentage considering that your file is quite heavy.
As for the crash that only occurs by “Clicking” the Clips that you have set up, it is also evident on my end, and have forwarded this matter to my team. Thank you.
Additionally, the crash may also be related to the excessively high GPU Usage hence, I also suggest deleting the ‘f2’ folder under your WorkSpace path and then reopening the archive. Once it’s open, refrain from updating the assets until you have lightened your scene file by deleting some assets, including procedurally generated vines. This will help prevent it from crashing again due to excessive video memory usage.
I confirm that my file is heavy and full of assets, however, I expected more assets to be handled but for now, since there are lots of details and I may mistakenly hide something essential, I am scared of touching anything since I am taking final renders, and after I deliver the project I can try deleting the F2 folder or hiding assets.
I have to note that the crash only happens when clicking certain clips, not others.
This is the main issue, Clip “03” to “04”.
And this is the stat when rendering heavily 2k-60fps 29 clips—a total of 4 minutes length videos.
Hi @nima.mousavi9, we apologize for the inconvenience. We have noted this issue, and it is currently under review. We will contact you once there is a conclusive resolution to this matter.
