This is not acceptable
It has been more than 20 days and there is no solution
FYI I started a new project and after 2 days of hard work, it is happening again !!
Now only clicking on the Camera icon to get inside the clips section causes a crash !!
I will probably lose this job and it is so frustrating for me!
I hope you are doing well? I would like to know if you’ve had a chance to delete the f2 folder as Clovis suggested. I understand how frustrating it can be to encounter VRAM issues, especially when it involves so many assets in your D5 Render file and you have a deadline to meet.
Could you let me know if there are a lot of procedurally generated assets in your scene, like vines or scatter elements? After you delete the f2 folder, please refrain from updating any assets for now. Instead, it would be great to focus on removing any unnecessary items and optimizing your scene for better performance.
Also, just a reminder: we are currently in the testing phase of the latest D5 version. If you could send those files to us again, I would be more than happy to test and verify the status with the new version.
Hi there,
I apologize for the late response. We’ve conducted testing on multiple devices to determine the root cause of this persistent error. Our findings are:
It seems that the crash whenever the Clip is selected is related to the VRAM consumption. The fact that only the 12GB RTX 4060 successfully opened and rendered confirms this diagnosis.
We do suggest organizing the assets by layers and hiding them in scenes where they are not seen. It is also important to note that there is a current issue regarding the sudden increase of VRAM Consumption on files that were created in the previous version. This issue will be addressed and fixed in the next update.
@Clov thank you for your response
I found a way to deal with it
If I keep the app open for quite a while like an hour it can be opened and works fine
I did put the different assets in layers and turned them off, also I am monitoring the gpu usage, and still problem persists.
I believe it is not related to gpu capability, maybe some software glitches.
I have to note that this problem also accured in a new project which was super light and nothing was heavy in the model
And this particular project is made from scratch in the latest version. There was the crash happening also when clicking on one of the scenes.
At the end, I have to say that the way I deal with it (leaving app open for an hour and then click on the clip) works sometimes but it is not reliable.
i have been having the same issue this last days i reopened a large project i’ve been working, and the issue also has to do with the clip section, i wish that in video render mode theres a static mode option like in photorender mode cuz everything starts moving and if u have a large project and multiple views and u start switching between them it tends to crash, idk why is this issue but it hope it gets solved soon i don’t know either if it also has to do with the newest Nvidia update or something like that.
Thanks for your update. I was able to open your file earlier and it seems that the crashing has completely disappeared. Before accessing your file I deleted my f2 folder and then proceeded to update the assets as soon as I accessed it. Then I made sure that no other GPU-intensive applications were running with D5 and only opened the file.
Hi everyone, I have the same problem.
I have set up the camera and the movement of the objects, however after a while when I click on that clip, the D5 display area turns black and then the software automatically closes (or displays TDR and also closes)
I investigated myself and found out that the problem is in the path trees, when I try to delete all these paths, everything works normally.
I hope the D5 team can check and fix this bug soon, because the path trees are an important tool when working with D5.
Thank you
Working with the latest version, the same problem occurred again!
I want to try removing the paths and see if it works as @minhduy.nguyen mentioned
However before that I am trying to delete the f2 folder but I cannot find it anywhere in my project folder.
No, this is a new project. Luckily, it is experimental, so there is no deadline, and I can take every step you think I should to make it work.
I did turn off PT, and it did not work. As I mentioned before, it does not feel like an overuse of GPU or RAM or things like that. It is a sudden crash and looks like a glitch or something.
There are 4 clips, and clicking on the first two of them is fine, but the other two cause the crash.
Update: I did record a short video and am sending it below. It looks like the moment I click on the clip, there is a spike on the GPU.
I tried deleting lots of assets like literally everything like nature, vehicles, paths, lights, so basically it is a very basic and light model but again it crashes. and GPU spike is happening again,.
Ok had the same issue when I clicked the ‘video’ button it by default tried to load clip 1 and D5 crashed (closed without an error message).
My solution was to delete the f2 folder, restart D5, click the video clip (no crashes), and then update each missing object (via the Assets Update popup), one by one, until it crashed D5. Restart D5 and delete all instances of that object. Mine happened to be the plant ‘Farfugium japonicum 01’.
Thank you very much
I hope this help D5 team investigate the issue. I was always confident that there is some glitch somewhere, not from the GPU or other hardware.
