Once I made the ceiling emissive, the mirrors flattened the stone.
Is the D5 team working on the mirror issues? I keep running into problems with mirrors and I feel like the problems are all related.
Here is the stone in the mirror with no emissive ceiling:
But when I make the ceiling emissive, the stone looks completely flat:
In this image you can see the emissive ceiling makes the green reflection shadows very light and also for some reason the white paint on the crown molding has turned sparkly:

Thank you. There seem to be several bugs involving mirrors and reflections. For interior designers in particular the mirror issues really need to be addressed including:
- Items reflecting too dark when next to the mirror.
- Emissive materials washing out shadows in mirror reflections. The result is reflections looking 2d vs 3d
- Items reflecting in color or black in mirrors in clay model mode
- Shadows being cast on mirrors like:

- It has been confirmed with the team that your current situation of “part of the glass material output is black with Clay Model mode” will be fixed in version 2.9,which is scheduled to be released soon.
- “Objects look flat in the mirror after rendering” We will continue to work on the fix.

Thank you. I am hoping that the D5 can dedicate the time needed to fix the mirror problems.
Version 2.9 seems to have made the clay model issue worse. Now the mirror doesn’t act like a mirror at all and there is no reflection. I believe the idea is that the mirror reflects a white environment and not become white itself:
