hello guys
i was on a project on 2.8 and the viewport was buttery smooth with 120 fps ( rtx 4090) But after updating to 2.9, the viewport is stuttering and slow, even ths fps showing 120. Ive tried to turn off all the layers, weather effects, fps booster for geometry, frame generation, super resolution, changed the cull distance, updated the studio drivers to the newest (november 2024) but still stuttering.
what else could be causing this problem?
I’m having the same problem, Sketchup version the crash happens mainly when an object is selected, not to mention that d5 is closing by itself out of nowhere, this in any project that I open without livesync installed.
Hi there. I apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused you both. There is currently a known issue regarding FPS Drops despite activating the FPS Booster for Complex Geometry. This feature should maintain or boost your current FPS and, in any case, should not drop.
However, these cases seem to differ since the “Statistics” Information on your end indicates 120 FPS. Nevertheless, I will report this issue to my team and update you as soon as possible.

Just to confirm, @3dfrenderizacao, this issue persists in other files, right? How about for @NOG_the_DOG? Is it also evident in other files?
-
Is this problem evident in empty files? Smaller size files?
-
Can you also provide these images for information?
Thank you.
The problem occurs in large projects, with vegetation and many lighting points, small and empty files, the problem does not occur.
Hi there, May I confirm if this was accessed with the D5 Render File with a “Stuttering and Lagging viewport”? Otherwise, please open the D5 Render File first, then the task manager. Can you also send the other image showing the GPU statistics?
Generally, issues regarding viewports being “laggy” in a specific file require optimization, such as:
- Hiding object assets (Vegetation, Object, Character, Lights) which are not entirely seen in the specific scene.
- Running Smooth mode instead of Precise
You may want to try deleting your pak files and reopening the D5 Render File. If you are experiencing excessive occupation due to the abundance of online asset downloads, consider deleting the f2 folder. The f2 folder contains cache files downloaded from the online library to the local device, but assets need to be re-downloaded next time after deletion.
Note: better create a backup copy of the f2 folder in another location (in case it doesn’t work, simply move it back).
yes my project still lagging, even with all layers hidden, weather effects turned off, lights turned off. I turned off all the options fps booster for geometry, frame generation, super resolution, changed the cull distance… even in smooth mode. My project is saved on a nvme ssd
