My d5 is crashing

when I launch a video rendering after a few moments my machine crashes how can I solve this problem?

Hi there,

I apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused. There could be a possibility that the crash is occurring because of how heavy the GPU Usage which is directly related to the file size of the project you are currently working on. Please send us the following information, while opening these files where the problem was evident (especially for VRAM Usage).

Hi, thanks for sending this information.

  • Could you also send your system info?
  • Does the crash only occur in a specific file?
  • Were these information (VRAM and Memory) opened together with the D5 File where the issue was evident?

this VRAM and memory information was opened before the machine crashed. I also tried rendering in HD and had no problems, but when I tried rendering in 4k the machine crashed.

Hi there,

Rendering 4k videos does require heavy VRAM Usage, hence it could be that your GPU could be a limiting factor. Were you able to render 4k Videos before using the exact device that you are currently using?

You may try to optimize your scene files and see if there are any differences

Optimize graphics memory usage

  • Start D5 Render with administrator privileges and restart your computer. The program will automatically modify the TDR values, which can improve the stability to a great extent.

  • Turn on DLSS.

  • Depth of field, Tyndall effect, and other settings can take up a lot of video memory, so use your discretion.

  • Higher resolution mapping will also take up video memory, you can replace the mapping of materials farther away from the camera with a lower resolution mapping and try to avoid using replacement.

  • More reflective scenes will reduce efficiency, you can turn the specular of materials far from the camera to 0 to cancel the reflection.

  • Windows’ own GPU usage data may not be accurate, we recommend using GPU-Z. Check the sensor-memory used parameter for better memory management.

You can also try to visit this forum topic and try the suggested solutions: Crashes/Restarts/Fails to Load

Let me know if this helps, thank you.

hi there, yes i have tried to render 2K videos before once 4K, but i didn’t face this problem. i have try the tips that you gave but it is the same result. Before that i had 2.6 d5 render i don’t know if it was the update who is doing that. But with full HD i don’t have problem

Hi there,

  • Please reopen that scene and send us a screenshot of the running data from GPU-Z, particularly the video memory usage when the video rendering starts.

  • Is your GPU Driver Updated?

  • Additionally, could you try opening an empty scene or a sample scene, render a 4K video, and check if D5 crashes again?

  • Lastly, could you please let us know the size of your scene? Turning off other software that are also consuming your VRAM will also be a big help.

It is the screenshot of the video memory usage when the video rendering starts.

yes my GPU Driver is updated.

when i try to render another scene in 4k video d5 crashes again but in HD no problem

the size of my scene is about 795 mo

Hi there,

Can you send us your Scene Files and Log files for this? Please send it to support@d5techs.com and have it titled “Clov-Forum D5 Crash ”

Hi there,

I would also like to ask a few more questions:

  • Does the crash and freezing only occur when rendering 4k Quality Images? How about for videos?
  • Is this issue only evident in this specific file? Can you please try to create an empty scene then render a 4k Image? and let me know if the issue persist even with empty files.
  • Which D5 Render Version was this issue evident?

the crash only occur when rendering 4k videos. i have any problem with 4k images.
the crash appear with the 2.9 version.
it is not this specific file which has a problem all the files in 4k videos crach

Hi there,

Thanks for confirming these information. As mentioned, would it be possible for you to send us your Scene and Log Files?
