2. When D5 Render is closed, connect the VR device to your computer.

a. For Oculus devices, please connect to Oculus program for PC. For reference,

Use Oculus Link with Meta Quest 2 or Meta Quest | Meta Store (facebook.com)

Connecting your Meta Quest 2 to your PC with Oculus Air Link | Meta Store (facebook.com)

b. For other devices, please connect to SteamVR

SteamVR on Steam (steampowered.com)

:warning: Note: some devices have their own programs to connect to steamVR. For example, Pico devices need Pico game streaming assistant to connect to SteamVR

:sparkles: It is recommended to use efficient connection methods such as 5G WiFi to ensure data transmission speed

3. Open D5 Render, turn on VR beta

After successful connection to Oculus or SteamVR, launch D5 Render and turn on VR.

In VR mode, your views will move with the device. At the same time, you can move the “footprint” by pressing the trigger of your controller to move to the target position. The default height is 1.6m, which can be adjusted in the VR device program. After use, press ESC on the keyboard to exit VR mode.

:sparkles: It is also suggested to disable VR beta widget after use, and do not render photos/videos when there is a VR device connected.

FAQ

1. Why it is laggy in VR mode?

In VR mode, D5 will render two cameras in real time (corresponding to the left eye and the right eye), so it has higher requirements on the graphics card.

Some VR devices have the function of detecting whether the VR glasses are normally worn. When the VR glasses are not normally worn (placed upside down on the table, kept picking up and putting down, and so on), the frame rate will automatically drop, resulting in laggy performance. In addition, if the number of lights in a scene is very large, it may also cause lagging issue.

Finally, please ensure that the driver version of the graphics card is updated, and do not turn on the high-resolution or high frame rate function of the VR device.

2. After enabling VR beta, SteamVR automatically opens every time when I open D5 Render, and there can be an error message when quitting D5 Render.

It is a known issue to be fixed. Please disable VR beta widget when VR is not used.

3. The image quality of VR mode is not the same as the high-quality preview mode?

Considering performance, effect, user experience and other aspects, we have designed the current VR preview image quality, which is between high and medium image quality. It has customized GI and shadow effects, but no reflection. We will continue to optimize to bring better experience.

Hello,
I have problem with my HP Reverb G2. Open Steam Vr, open D5 render, click on VR icon and after a few seconds an image with two eyes appeared and its freeze, I can’t move or anything. Also, nothing happened in my headset, there is no screen from D5 at all.
Please help me.

Regards,
Milan

Hello, what GPU and how many monitors do you use? And also, make sure the FPS and resolution is not very high. I guess the VRAM is out of usage.

GPU rtx 3080ti.
Where can I see and where I can change FPS?
When you say resolution, do you mean resolution of headset or in D5?
VRAM on my GPU is 12gb.

Hello, I meant the resolution of your headset. Normally the VR device often has settings to adjust the resolution, FPS (performance), etc

HI,
I have an issue to connect my meta Quest 3 with D5 render VR, and it’s not recognizing my headset, meanwhile it connected to my Oculus pc app.
I will be glad to guide me in this problem.

Regards

Hey,

I have similar problem as Parmida here. Meta quest 3 with quest succesfully connected, but when it comes to d5 its not recognizing the headset. Headset was connected with ari link (/wo cables), gpu is quadro RTX 4000, on newest windows 11 version. PC is connected to router also wirelessly

I just bought meta quest 3 to try it with D5. I think i can return the device now since the VR can not recognize the VR headset.

Hello. Did your device successfully connect to your computer? If the device has been successfully connected to your computer but the D5 did not recognise the device, you can try restarting D5.

Hello, which version of D5 are you currently using? If it’s convenient, you can try to see if you can connect quest3 with D52.6.

i am able to use it now. I think after i update the version it works fine

I was able to get it working on Meta Quest 3 in june. But now it dose’nt work again. I have everything updated and run in correct order, but it D5 just shows no HMD found. Any changes between versions that could’ve interrupted it? Please help.

Hi there, I apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused. Do you remember which version it was working? In June, it was either 2.7.1 or 2.8, and I suggest installing the 2.7.1 or 2.8 Version just to see if your VR Device works normally in that version. You can download the historical version in this link: Download Historical Versions of D5 Render

Please update us if there are any differences. Thank you.

Test Environment:
Hardware: Win11 PC with NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti,
VR Device: Oculus Quest 3 headset, VIVE Pro 2
Software Version: D5 Render v2.9.1.0509

Test Progress:

  1. The VR Headset is connected and working well in Enscape.
  2. Start D5 Render. Click on the “VR” Icon.
  3. Error: “No Head Mounted Display Device Found”
  4. Restart the PC and D5 doesn’t do anything.

Both VR headsets are not being detected by D5 no matter what.

Any suggestions?

Hi there,

To clarify, did you start D5 First before connecting the VR Device? You may want to try to connect the VR Device first, then proceed to open D5 Render, then click on the VR Icon. You can follow a more detailed instruction through this link: How to use VR (beta) Widget? | User Manual

Thank you.
