I am using D5 Render version 2.11. I have already set the rendering quality to 4K, but the output still appears to have low resolution. In particular, the Alpha mask output lacks sufficient quality, which causes significant flickering when used for compositing and keying in After Effects.
In addition, whenever there are louver or grille objects on the building, they tend to flicker heavily after rendering. I have recorded a short sample video that demonstrates this flickering issue.
I have already tried updating my GPU drivers, increasing the sample count, and adjusting denoising settings, but the issue persists.
My system specifications are as follows:
CPU: Intel Core i7-14700K
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080 SUPER
RAM: 128GB
Could you advise on how to improve the render settings in order to achieve sharper output and more stable alpha channels for post-production?

Any screen-recordings or images that show the Low resolution and Alpha Mask Flickering? We may also need to collect your Scene File + Log File to test it on our end.
Please send it to support@d5techs.com and have it titled 'Clov-Forum How to Fix Low Resolution and Alpha Mask Flickering Issues in D5 Render 4K Output?"
Hi Clov
I have already replied to the email and provided a download link with the files to support@d5techs.com
. I kindly ask for your further assistance. Thank you.
The issue with glowing light strips has also been troubling me. Whenever I work on scenes that include self-illuminating light strips, the rendered animation ends up flickering heavily.
This flickering seriously affects the final quality of the animation and makes it very difficult to achieve professional results.
I sincerely hope the development team can pay more attention to flickering issues in animations. Continuously adding new features is great, but it should not come at the cost of losing the essential quality that animation rendering requires.
Thanks for sending your files. We will begin testing as soon as possible.
I was also able to check the video you have rendered, and regarding the flickering issue, you might want to try to disable Super Resolution temporarily and see if the flickering persists.
In the event of we are unable to replicate the flickering issue on our end, perhaps the issue is specific to your device, I would recommend upgrading your GPU Drivers, or revert back to a more stable version of NVIDIA Drivers.
I have tried disabling Super Resolution, but the severe flickering issue still persists. This problem has existed since version 2.7 and continues to this day, so I believe it deserves serious attention from the development team.
I have already updated my GPU drivers. Perhaps you could try rendering my scene into a 4K night animation sequence and compare it with the night 01.zip (the sequence I rendered myself). This way, you can check whether the output quality is just as poor.
I just tested your file, and I want to point out the following:
Currently, it is a known issue for Video Sequence to have a lower quality compared to Still Image Renders. This issue is currently being repaired and may be fixed in subsequent releases. We can’t disclose any specific schedule since it may be changed. Rest assured, I have informed my team regarding the gravity of this known issue.
As for the flickering issue, this seems to be different than what is being reported usually, since flickering is usually solved when Super Resolution or FPS Booster is disabled. We’ll be investigating it further.
First of all, thank you for assisting in testing these issues. In previous versions, the lower resolution of video sequences has always been a problem, but with version 2.11, I personally feel that the situation has become even more severe.
The flickering issue is also very problematic. In particular, when working with louver objects or interior light strips (self-illuminated strips), the rendered animations flicker intensely. I have tried many different approaches, but none have effectively resolved the issue.
Some peers in the industry have even said that animations should not be made with D5 Render because the quality is too unstable. It’s unfortunate, because while D5 Render continues to update with new features to improve user experience, it seems to have overlooked the most important aspect of animation — stability and quality. I sincerely hope your team can resolve these serious problems soon, otherwise it will be very difficult for me to continue supporting the software.
