D5 Render Version: 2.10.1.0279 Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU Driver Version: 572.83 Studio Issue Description: D5 keeps crashing with a heavy file I’m working on, as if GPU turns off. After working for just a few minutes, the whole system freezes for a bit, after that, the software closes. It has been very hard to use the sofware since the last update, virtually almost imposible. Is the any hotfix on the way? I’ve seen some other users with similar bugs. Screenshots/Videos Description:
I apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused. The hotfix has already been rolled out and launched, 2.10.1.0579.
It is also important to note that the recent 2.10 Version has introduced Path Tracing, and this will surely increase the GPU load once it is enabled, you may try to disable it.
If the problem only exists with the current project or some of the scene files, it is likely that the file is too heavy and is taking up too much video memory, exceeding the load of your current device, and you need to lighten and optimize your file.
If the file fails to open, please delete the ‘f2’ folder under your WorkSpace path and then reopen the archive. Once it’s open, refrain from updating the assets until you have lightened your scene file by organizing them and hiding assets that are not evident in certain scenes. This will help prevent it from crashing again due to excessive video memory usage.
You may also want to try to disable Frame Generation and see if there is any significant improvement.
Since you’re using i9-14900 HX processor running D5 and other DX12 software, you may experience flashbacks, crashes, 99% loading freeze, and pop-up messages indicating “Some DLL files in the system are missing” or “Program startup failed”. Please update your BIOS (Users can go to the motherboard’s official website to update the BIOS version)Intel Processor Instability Causing Oodle Decompression Failures
Just tried the same file with the latest hotfix onboard. Frame rate was a bit better although D5 closed after five minutes of use.
The file opens without any problem at all, it loads correctly. I´m currently using Path Tracer, so I’m going to try again disabling it.
Then, tried again after disabling path tracer and, yet again, software closes. I’m really worried with the current state of the software, since I haven’t been able meet any deadline with various projects I’m currently working on.
On the other hand, haven’t had any of the problems you mention about the processor. Is that gonna be fixed or maintained or is it an inherent condition of the hardware?
Thanks in advance and just hope we can get a fast fix for this.
There seems to be a lot of vegetation assets to set up the exterior environment. If you could optimize and arrange these assets so it will be hidden in specific scenes where they are not evident, then that would be great.
Temporarily disable dynamic assets (disabling this feature will stop them from moving)
Disable Transition Animation
If you can work with “Smooth Display” Temporarily (if you’re not adjusting the lighting and effects) then it would be best to enable it.
Sadly, yes, it became frequent after updating to 2.10. I mean, D5 did shutdown randomly sometimes. But, it was also coincidental to the moment I started working on the interior scenes. I’m aware the context of the project is far bigger than what’s really needed but, I was hoping to develop contextual and aerial media in the newer future. That, and the fact that I’m not illuminating the interior scenes with rectangular lights near the openings, I’m solving it with a bit of over exposure… Just trying to find a reason for it to colapse as it’s currently happening.
Anyhow, I’ll compile the info needed to share it with you.
Haven’t tried reverting to 2.9. Will the same file i’m currently working in 2.10 run in the previous version?
Have you tried the two suggestions that I have proposed?
Let me know if there are some improvements after doing so.
While this file was made or opened in Version 2.10, you can still use it with Version 2.9. Please note that some assets and environmental effects might appear differently or be absent in the older version. If these potential discrepancies don’t significantly affect your work, you are welcome to go back to Version 2.9.
We don’t have a hotfix planned at this time. The next anticipated update is Version 2.11, though we don’t have a specific release date to share yet. Kindly let me know once you have sent the files. Thank you.
