D5 crashes during startup on my end

Unfortunately, D5 has become very unstable lately. It crashes during startup, crashes while I’m working, and recovering files after a crash is often difficult. The SketchUp plugin is also not working properly.

These issues are causing serious delays to my work. Are you planning to fix these problems, or do you consider this acceptable, given that this situation has been going on for about a month?

I pay for my subscription regularly, and I expect a more professional level of commitment and support from your team.

To help us determine whether this is a project-specific issue or a broader software issue, could you please confirm the following:

  • Does the problem occur in all files, or only in certain projects?
  • Are you able to create and work with a new scene normally?
  • Can you open and work with the D5 demo scenes without experiencing crashes?
  • Regarding the SketchUp plugin issue, could you describe the specific behavior you’re encountering? For example, is it related to LiveSync, synchronization failures, plugin startup, geometry updates, or something else?

Please note: If the issue only occurs with a specific project or a subset of projects, it is often related to the scene itself. Large projects with extensive geometry, vegetation, textures, or assets can exceed available VRAM and lead to instability, slowdowns, loading failures, or crashes. In such cases, scene optimization may be required.

We’ve investigated a number of crash reports recently, and in many cases where logs were provided, the root cause was linked to projects exceeding the available VRAM on the user’s system rather than a general software defect.
