Cesium Issue visible tiling, geo located model

D5 Render Version: 2.11
Graphics Card: RTX 3090
Driver Version: 577.00
Issue Description:
I’m having a problem when trying to use Cesium. As you can see from the screengrabs the data seems to be leaving a visible tiling effect all over the mesh. I’ve watched Andy Christoforou YouTube video on installing, to ensure all installed correctly. I then went to the same space in Cesium and mine was looking different with the tiling where as his was absolutely fine.

I have done a site specific rough test (ignore the fact the model and mesh overlapping, but you can see the tiling effect on the railway and in the fields. Yes I can improve these with some AI which i’ve alos attached, but I want to understand if it’s something I’m doing or a limitation of Cesium?

Any thoughts would be great.

Is this expected behavior, or is this something that shouldn’t be happening?

Hi @henry1

This is currently expected on our end. We will be further optimizing Cesium tool in subsequent release. Thank you.

Hi @Clov
Thanks for letting me know it’s not something I’ve done wrong! One other thing I’ve noticed. If you geolocate a model in Sketchup, and then import a Cesium they have different rotations. Again, wondering if this is normal behavior or a known workflow that is just part of how they integrate two different systems currently. I’ve also noticed that if you rotate the Cesium but then close the file and re open, it will revert back to original orientation.

FYI I have a current test project I’m playing around with and D5 just freezes when I try to do a render. Let me know if you want me to send you anything.

Thanks

Hi @henry1

The Cesium data position changes after reopening the saved file have now been reported. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible if this is under expectation (considering if there is a rotation logic or any other factors).

  • As for your other problem about crashing, is it related to Cesium? If not, I suggest creating a new forum topic just to avoid confusion of 2 topics or issues in 1 forum post. Please don’t forget to provide complete information (includes System Info, VRAM, etc. images or screen-recordings)
