Advanced brush doesn't work inside Scatter

Advanced brush doesn’t work inside Scatter if we paint outside main Scatter material area :

It doesn’t create object instances here.

I’m trying to understand your description. Basically, on your end, the advanced brush tool does not work when it is being used inside a surface where scatter exists, contrary to painting outside the area where scatter was used? Please confirm.

I’ve run some tests with the advanced brush tool, both inside and outside the scattered area. Perhaps you can specify which asset was used? Since it works on my end.

Tested your file and redid the advanced brush with the same assets, and I have even tried creating a new advanced brush with another asset.

I tried creating a similar surface with a different material in the middle, using the same setup you showed.

Vegetation generated outside the first surface, where the advanced brush tool is used, still generates normally. This applies to both the file you provided and the new one I created for testing.

  • Am I missing something that’s in your workflow?
  • Can you provide a video recording of your process? Preferably showing the full screen (not zoomed in)

Hi @Clov it works for you because you started to paint using advanced brush. Please set Scatter for red material first after that update Scatter area by paint outside red area using Advanced Brush - plants doesn’t grow here.

It looks like these two Scatter modes doesn’t work together. While you have set Scatter for material area adding Advanced Brush doesn’t work outside this material area.

This issue will be fixed in the next version. The release dates are still tentative so we can’t really disclose it. It should be near once 3.1 beta starts in discord.
