2.11 Issues on my end -bcsadmin

2.11 is very frustrating. Installing is a mess, and frame generation is a mess, and it keeps freezing for a few seconds when something is selected, Live Sync doesn’t work (Rhino).

Now I have to roll back to previous Nvidia driver since 2.10 doesn’t work well with the newest Nvidia driver.

Do the installation in this process/manner:

  1. Versions after 2.11 require the installation of D5 launcher before downloading - Please download the launcher first before downloading 2.11
  2. Open D5 Launcher > Click the download button on D5 launcher homepage, select the download location, download and install.

3

  1. After downloading D5 Launcher and 2.11, download the plug-in in the workflow section of the launcher.

Regarding your issue on frame generation, provide us with screenshot/recording, and further information such as:

  • Does this only occur in 2.11? Opening this file in 2.10 is normal?
  • Is it only evident on specific files or all of your files? (Even empty D5 files)

Thanks

after finishing downloading D5, it’s stuck at this screen. It’s not installing.

After force quit and rebooting, it installed. However, it isn’t still working.

The launcher shows it as installed, but the test won’t run, saying D5 Render isn’t installed.

Rhino Live sync is installed, but it won’t open in Rhino

D5Sync is unknown command, and there’s no D5 plugin in the plugin list.

The livesync still doesn’t work, but opening a d5 separately worked without syncing - obviously this shouldn’t be that way.

The problem is, it keeps freezing whenever something is selected. Not all the time, but quite frequently. Surely there’s also Frame Generation bug as well.

Has anyone actually tried using 2.11 version without releasing it? Installing it is a mess, and the actual software is also a mess.

Hi @bcsadmin

  1. Benchmark Tool - Tested with a newly installed benchmark tool from the official website, it acknowledges the the application normally.

  2. Installed Rhino 1.1.0 > Selected the existing Rhino Version that I have.

  • Check if the plug-in folder exists in this typical file address: C:\ProgramData\McNeel\Rhinoceros\8.0\Plug-ins , If it has the D5 Livesync folder, try to delete it then reinstall
  1. Regarding the issue you have mentioned about lagging and freezing, does it only occur to a single file or to all of yours?

Anyway, please send us this specific file and generate a log file for us. You may send it to support@d5techs.com and have it titled ‘2.11 Clov-bcsadmin’

Since you have posted multiple forum post here, I suggests keeping it one forum thread to avoid further confusion and for navigation ease. Thanks.

Thank you for combining the posts.

The wavy effect with frame generation is the same issue discussed here. I noticed the same thing, whether it’s 4x, 2x, or auto. Any file would exhibit the same issue. This does not happen with 2.10.

Considerably slow loading time, and freezing for a few seconds after selecting objects are the same issue discussed here. I experienced the same issue with the latest Nvidia driver (577) and 2.11. This does not happen with 2.10

I’ve already rolled back to 2.10.

Your suggestion on LiveSync is what I found on the forum already, and it didn’t work. I finally solved the issue by installing LiveSync “only for me” not “for everyone” even though D5 recommends installing “for everyone.”

Benchmark didn’t work with 2.11 even though D5 render opened. The benchmark tool only worked after uninstalling 2.11 and reinstalling 2.10.

Hi @bcsadmin

I would like to simplify this issue as much as possible and work on what can be currently investigated.

  • Since I have mentioned about the DLSS issue in a separate post and how it has yet to be resolved, then let’s save this issue for later (hopefully there will be goodnews sooner.
  • About the livesync, thanks for updating us regarding how you were able to resolve it.

With those 2 issues, eliminated (not literally, but we can put DLSS issue aside), the main issue you’re experiencing with 2.11 is the poor performance it brought.

Thank you again for your help trying to solve the issues.

With 2.10, there’s no wave effect or freezing. D5 also opens faster in 2.10.
Since I no longer have 2.11, not sure if I could send you log file from 2.11.

Here’s screenshots from 2.10. Log file is attached.

Here’s task bar and MSI Center hardware view while rendering in 2.10.
Strangely, it doesn’t seem to utilize the GPU? I wonder if there’s a way to make it use it more so that it renders faster. In MSI Center, it’s set as Extreme Performance.

Nvidia setting is also set as maximum performance and Vsync is turned off.

By the way, even though I got LiveSync working by installing “only for me,” tool bar is missing.
I can use it, and it shows up in Plugin list. However, it’s missing in Tool Bar list.

Hi @bcsadmin

  • The wave effect that was caused by enabling DLSS was recorded in 2.10.
  • It is expected for files to open more slowly when it is being first time in the new version, but if it takes too long (perhaps beyond 10 minutes) then that is abnormal.

We would prefer to have the log files generated in 2.11, but I understand the urgency for you to revert to the previous version. Did you also send us your scene files?

Luckily, I haven’t experienced wavy effect in 2.10 with frame generation. Hope it stays that way. I only saw it after updating to 2.11. Back in 2.10, I don’t see it.

Besides, the slow opening (even after opening the same file several times), 2.11 freezes for a few seconds after selecting objects. Not every time, but frequent enough – that’s the main reason I rolled back to 2.10.

Regarding, plugin / toolbar:

The post above, I attached screenshots of both Plugin and Toolbar.
Below Plugin screenshot showing D5, the Toolbar screenshot shows D5 missing in the list.

Plug in is not missing. As I said, I can use the livesync with a command. It’s just that, the toolbar is missing.
