Following the release of version 2.10, two issues have been identified that are within expectations. Below is an overview of each issue, including its cause and the proposed solution. Thanks for your understanding.
Puddle effect changed
Following the 2.10 update, several users reported changes in the effect of puddle/snow within old archives, stating that the original effects can no longer be replicated, even with parameter adjustments.
Reason:
2.10 optimized the rain and snow effect, the current puddle distribution can not satisfy both the human viewpoint and the bird’s eye viewpoint at the same time.
Solution:
-
Manually adjust the parameters in the latest version to achieve a puddle effect close to the previous. In the 2.10.1 (hotfix) version, we provided two additional parameters-Scale&Offset for adjustment.
-
Note: It may still be hard to adjust it back to the exact same effect as it was. If you need the exact same effect as the old version, it is recommended to output the old archive with the old d5 version.

Previous scenes become much darker
Some users reported that when opening old archives (with auto exposure enabled before) using 2.10, the scenes became much darker.
Reason:
2.10 adjusted the sensitivity of auto exposure to accommodate the new night sky effect (to prevent overexposure), which resulted in scenes with auto exposure in the original 2.9 version becoming darker in 2.10. We may optimize it accordingly in subsequent releases.
Solutions:
1. Continue to use 2.10:
-
Turn off Auto Exposure switch
-
Manually adjust exposure parameters
-
Update all scenes, videos and render queues.
2. Need to fully maintain the original effect:
Please consider rolling back to 2.9 version to finish the project:
