XT Tour or a big ball of FUR

D5 Render Version:

Well after all the work. 14acres of site and doing all the planting and details and everything all I get from the XRTour is a big BLOB of FUR. Most disappointed with the outcome. Please don’t ask to share file as I cant.

I dont know where the error lies. or what the issue is. Something gone wrong with the splatting somewhere. Everything except the splatting has gone bad. This was the output from the camera type - hemispherical & high sample output.

This next one has come out better. which is Camera type-Sphere & high sample output
My only issue is the quality after zooming in still has lot of blured outputs

Here is how it looks zoomed in

Big ball of FUR.

Hi @genesisplanners

  • How about the project link, can you share it with us?

Gaussian Splatting has a fundamental limitation: the technique relies heavily on image resolution and proximity to capture fine details. This is why XR Tours are generally not ideal for showcasing intricate details.

However, there are effective workarounds. For products or smaller-scale models, you can use a spherical shooting template to enable much closer-range captures, which results in significantly more detailed reconstructions.

Looking ahead, D5 is actively developing solutions to mitigate this limitation. We are working on features like multi-template setups to make high-detail reconstruction easier in the future.

There are still several practical tips that can help improve the XR results, such as:

  • using more natural daylight,
  • reducing excessive glass reflections,
  • adjusting the shape of the template to capture more angles,
  • and disabling fog effects.

We plan to publish a blog post soon to share these best practices.

Sure even in the examples you have shared with me if i zoom in the details get blurred. I can understand it works better for probably a smaller scale dwelling unit, like a villa or single building.

Just putting it here. This method is very good for early stage understanding of site planning and scale. It cannot be used for final design showcase of the project. as the splatting just cannot keep up with the visual fidelity need for a client presentation.

I was hopeing to not make a walkthru and just use this share the link and done. Client can get something like a digital twin. Im thinking ill have to use the other virtual Tour feature. The limitation is clearly felt with movement inside of that thou the clarity is well maintained. By movement i mean its only a 360view of one location.

Hopefully XR tours zoomed becomes better over time. The limit set by you for the 600clicks its not really needed and can be made to 1200 also or something that we can choose to design as well. Giving it a little more detail as needed. What if the images taken as well were a little higher instead of 2k. either 4k or 8k. Would it result in a better output? Lets wait and watch.
