XT Tour or a big ball of FUR

D5 Render Version:

Well after all the work. 14acres of site and doing all the planting and details and everything all I get from the XRTour is a big BLOB of FUR. Most disappointed with the outcome. Please don’t ask to share file as I cant.

I dont know where the error lies. or what the issue is. Something gone wrong with the splatting somewhere. Everything except the splatting has gone bad. This was the output from the camera type - hemispherical & high sample output.

This next one has come out better. which is Camera type-Sphere & high sample output
My only issue is the quality after zooming in still has lot of blured outputs

Here is how it looks zoomed in

Big ball of FUR.

Hi @genesisplanners

  • How about the project link, can you share it with us?

Gaussian Splatting has a fundamental limitation: the technique relies heavily on image resolution and proximity to capture fine details. This is why XR Tours are generally not ideal for showcasing intricate details.

However, there are effective workarounds. For products or smaller-scale models, you can use a spherical shooting template to enable much closer-range captures, which results in significantly more detailed reconstructions.

Looking ahead, D5 is actively developing solutions to mitigate this limitation. We are working on features like multi-template setups to make high-detail reconstruction easier in the future.

There are still several practical tips that can help improve the XR results, such as:

  • using more natural daylight,
  • reducing excessive glass reflections,
  • adjusting the shape of the template to capture more angles,
  • and disabling fog effects.

We plan to publish a blog post soon to share these best practices.

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback! We’re excited to let you know that in our upcoming version, we’ll support more advanced training strategies. Specifically, you’ll be able to train the same building with multiple templates (for example, combining near and far perspectives, or splitting a large scene into several independent blocks).

This will greatly enhance the level of detail and improve the overall presentation quality. Please stay tuned for our next release of XR features—we believe it will make a big difference in how your projects are showcased.
