Volume Fog is buggy - It change strength every time

Volume Fog is buggy. It change strength every time.

vol_fog.zip (2.1 MB)
vol_fog_buggy(3).zip (2.3 MB)

It even render that in final. Why this software is soo buggy… cameras, cloud shadows, fog. I’m scare what I will find tomorrow.

It is caused by colored fog and situation where :

  1. Scene use HDRI map for lighting and volumetric fog
  2. Previous scene use colored fog ( volumetric or not ). Fog can be even disabled but colored !

If we switch from scene which use colored fog to scene which use HDRI lighting and volumetric fog we will have totally over burn.

Hi @Smolak

This is a known issue; it will be fixed in the next release.

We truly appreciate your everyday posts and the insights you’ve shared about D5 Render. Some of the issues you’ve reported are already known and scheduled to be addressed in upcoming version updates.

Others appear to be feature requests, which we encourage you to post in the dedicated Feature Requests section of the forum. This helps our team track and prioritize suggestions more effectively.

Hi @Clov

Glad to hear that the beta testing is opened for new users. I’m of course very interested to help improving your great software.

Hi @Smolak

We’ll reach out to you once a beta starts, other betas include D5Lite and other plug-in too, and usually a dedicated group is in discord for it.

Thank you very much @Clov .

I don’t know if this is known issue too but I noticed that if fog color in previous scene is pure white, when we switch to another scene which use volumetric fog these Sun beams generated by volumetric fog are not visible at all :

Hi @Smolak

I tried to replicate it, please check the video link: Unique Download Link | WeTransfer

Let me know if there are some processes that I may have missed to successfully replicate this issue on my end.

I forgot to say that 2nd scene must be lighted by HDRI :

fog_hdri (2).zip (380.9 KB)

Scene :

fog.zip (1.4 MB)

Please add HDRI to the Scene 2 ( too big to include it )

Another issue is that colored volumetric fog is way too strong compared to white one. It has much more impact and completely ignore height parameter which works more like additional strength. It is more visible on night views :

fog_col.zip (1.8 MB)
