Sketchup 2023 to D5 updates loosing reseting all materials

Hi there,

When I update and synchronize my Sketchup 23.1.340 files (I have several links for one d5 file), I lose all my previous changes (normal, roughness, emissive…) on my materials.
After clicking Sketchup “Connect to D5 render” for any update D5 update with new material import even if I did not change anything :frowning:
To solve this I just save as local my materials and re-apply them to my updated synchronization files, but a big waste of time :frowning:
Is it a problem already known ? Any solution ?
Thanks in advance for your help

Hi @Thiass,

How did you import the model into D5 (direct read or using plugins) and your graphics card, graphics driver version.

Are all the materials lost? Does this happen in all other files as well?

The following are known to cause the problem of lost materials in SU models imported into D5:

  1. SU uses unsupported material format, such as ‘tif’ file.
2)The interface is reversed in SU, you need to invert the surface and give the material to the model, then re-import into D5.

Please also check whether your computer has any encryption software, if it is your company’s computer, remember to ask your company’s IT to set a whitelist for D5. Because D5 is an independent software, it needs encryption software to grant permission separately.

If none of the above reasons, please describe it with pictures so that we can help you locate the problem.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Problem was coming of to many similar components on the Sketchup files that makes D5 change material as new.
On that case, I have 3 different Sketchup files and 1 containing 60 identical F1 apartments.
I finally decide to work only with 2 apartments and the problem disapear.
Regards,

Hi, is there a solution for this?
Hi, is there a solution for this?
It doesn’t usually happen here, but lately, wen working with Sketchup 24 and D5 in sync mode I lost all material settings for the linked SU file.
During the work, SU had an error and closed. D5 kept open, I reopened the SU file, pressed the sync button, and all the material settings were lost.
I tried to recover with the history file version, but even in older file versions the material settings were lost.

Is there a way to avoid it happening again? Or to fix it so I don’t have to reset all materials?

Materials set in the previous file, before the error.

Material settings lost after the error in SU file

Hello @zambonato.bruna

sorry for the issue.

Please tell me your D5 version and LiveSync plugin version.

Second, when you launched SU and clicked to sync again, did you receive these windows? And how did you select the options at that time?

Thanks

Hi, thank you for replying!

D5 version is 2.7.1.0465 and LiveSync plugin version is 1.2.0.006, for SU 24.

As D5 kept open when SU closed, when I launched SU and clicked to sync again, it did not show those windows. The files were the same and in the same folder location, so it did not lose the link.

Just materials were lost. Maps and settings added in D5 were not there, and I have not saved them in the local assets.

Hello, @zambonato.bruna

thanks for the response.

Just for confirmation, where do you store D5-related documents, such as WorkSpace and D5 archives? Are they stored locally or on the cloud? Do you have a stable network connection? Please also check if there are any conflicting software or encryption software, and keep them disabled.

Besides, please try our latest LiveSync, it fixed some issues and might be more stable. You can download it here: Release notes | D5 LiveSync for SketchUp - Workflow / SketchUp - D5 RENDER FORUM

If a similar issue happens again, please let me know.

Regards.
