Shadow on ceiling is too dark

Hi, everytime I do a tower, the ceiling is always too dark even I adjusted the exposure, shadow local, shadow, etc, still its very dark. Do you have any solution for this? TIA

Hi @it116

Have you tried modifying the sun’s position? Or perhaps tried another HDRI?

It looks to me as if the sun/HDRI is shining onto the building and terrain and then as the light is reflected upward from the terrain it looses strength each floor it goes up. It could be the way light behaves in the real world, but this effect in D5 may be a bit unrealistic.

@it116 Try using the path tracer with higher settings. Maybe it could provide more secondary light bounces and brighten up dark areas.

Same issue here on D5 Render 2.11 (Windows 11, RTX 4080, 128 GB RAM). The underside of overhangs/soffits (chajja) renders extremely dark. Tried HDRIs, Sun & Sky, Local Exposure, GI High/Ultra, and AO tweaks—no change. This really hurts exterior quality. I’ve posted my own thread with screenshots. Would appreciate guidance from the D5 team on settings or a fix.

Hi @mushir.qazi

Please refer to the other forum post that you have created so we can centralize and avoid jumping from thread to thread. Thank you~
