This tool is completely useless on large areas. It has internal limit based on amount of overall instances count. It works fine while lowering quality to 50% or reduce density. Not suitable for small grass objects on large areas.
It looks like Cluster Size has internal limit of instances to work properly.
There is no way to use clusters on large areas using small grass objects.
There is need to divide areas by noise image with different grasses to work properly.
So we have limitation or bug ?
Hi @Smolak
We’re testing out your file now. What’s the difference of this issue and the other one that you have posted about Scatter - Divide area destroys current areas
Hi @Clov no this is completely different thing more like feature request if you add new area old ones should be stay the same - not removed.
In this thread I said about limitation using Scatter Clusters on large area using small grass objects. Clusters doesn’t support that many objects - this is why it generate stripe patterns.
Hi @Smolak
The issue mentioned in this thread has already been replicated on our end. We have reported it, and it is recognized as an area for potential improvement. We may address this in future versions.
This is crazy. Scatter is completely broken even on middle size area, it needs very low density to work properly :
More time I use this software I’m sure that you don’t have beta testers because most of the issues reported here from time to time by users are noticeable after some hours of normal work.
Update :
This issue is not related to Scatter itself but for amount of other geometry in scene.
After removing 1,5mln poly object like Fence, scatter works fine.
scatt_fenc (2).zip (1.2 MB)
When I reload Fence object again, scatter doesn’t work as expected.
Ha ! But if Fence object is hidden from view I can recreate Scatter and it works fine !
I don’t have any VRam issue

But it still doesn’t work using higher Scatter density or quality. Internal limitation of data amount.
