Roadmap is here!

Hello,
Is this where people write their suggestions?

I have a couple:
Is it possible for renders to set the ray-tracing quality and number of light bounces? With the new RTX 4090s the renders take minute and I think there is room to have more bounces to improve contact shadows.

Also is there a cap on material texture resolution? Sometimes even when I use 8K texture the quality of texture in render is still pretty low.

Thanks,

would love more bounces !

Waiting for Tonemapping for HDRI lighting. Although there are options to correct HDRI lighting in the environment tab, they are a bit tricky to work with, either improving the added option or adding more options would be better to precisely and accurately tonemap the lighting.

Hi Oliver,

We are on version 2.4 now and as far as i can see i’m still not having a lot of options when rendering in VR or panoramic.

Can you tell something about the planning on this?

Sorry, the feature about VR needs us to improve other functions first, so maybe in 2.6 or next year we can have new VR functions (for now it is still VR beta).

What VR device do you use? I have the quest 2 but it seems to not be supported which is kinda sad since the quest is such a popular VR device.

Hi there, just wondering any roadmap planned for having an image composition (like Vray Frame Buffer) inside D5 directly? like adjusting color or correcting images based on its render passes (AO, Reflection, ID, etc).

Thanks!

Part of them can be done by color grading, thank you for your advice.

what if, say i want to edit only the reflection pass (say, make it more contrast) as oppose to just general adjustment?

You have to use Photoshop with the output of the Reflection map now.

possibility in the future for direct composition inside D5 render? the idea is to use less photoshop as much as possible.

We will consider it, Thank you for your advice.

Is there a new roadmap we could look at for this year , 2024? It seems like there isn’t a clear updated roadmap anymore to look at

I don’t know where D5 wants to go, except for architectual visualisations.

But what I miss is definitely:

  • animated FBX/bones
  • object based motion blur
  • editable timeline with keyframes for complex bone hierarchies

I would go full pro!
However, I don’t need to visualize a house, a flat, nor an regular ‘outdoor scene’. The question is, how many users would like to do anything other than visualize something on an architecture basis? I’m pretty sure I’m not alone.

You know you can import your animated objects from 3ds max and other softwares, yeah? you simply export .abc and all the animation comes with it. I use it all the time.

I tried that already! Yes, but it doesn’t work with skinned bones, or does it?

well, once Imported a dancing character in D5, so I guess as long as they have animation, it will work!

It doesn’t work with skinned meshes! Tested it all! Yellow dot!

  • More details like corona or v-ray in rendering even with more render time
  • A VR Mode like walk mode (no matter if calculating in real time)
  • Animated HDRI for timelapse or improved sky
  • Google map integration, with an ai that detect the nature of assets (like trees detection and replacement with D5 trees)
  • Google map with the possibility to make a surface empty with a cutting box to put and work with our design in the empty space rceated

I would like to see

Quick rotation for decals while placing

line placement for all models not just vegetation ( would help to make road line decals on longer roads)

multiple asset placement like without having to go back and grab the model from the library repeatedly

Weathering effect on materials like Lumion (mostly darkens acute corners and lightens oblique corners)

Fountains look too dark

I assume more backdrop planes are coming in the future

Enhanced lighting will always make everything better

Better fog effect

Dirt effect painting?
