Regenerate scatter issue

D5 Render Version: 2.11
Graphics Card: 3090
Driver Version: latest
Issue Description:
The issue is whenever I have to do something with the scatter it regenerates and I have to wait for it to load and after that D5 render crashes. I need an urgent solution for that cause Im on a tight deadline. is there a way to just delete the scatter without it going in that ridiculous loading situation.

Hi @pushkaraj1990

Which specific action are you doing for your scatter to regenerate? Editing the scaling values of the individual assets that belongs to a scatter does not need to be regenerated on my end.

  • In 2.11, scatter regeneration only happens when the surface where it was placed was either moved or renamed.
  • Scatter deletion occurs immediately upon pressing the delete key.

Additionally:

  • Does this issue occur to all of your files or other files?
  • Scatter assets or vegetation assets are generally heavy, the more these assets are used, the heavier the file gets hence the more VRAM is being consumed. If your device only have low VRAM then crashing is expected and optimization of the file is required.

I havent changed any scatter or the 3d positions in D5 but i have to hit regenerate. All i do is change a few thing on the base sketchup file which has all the building and the surrounding context.
I cant delete the scatter until the regeneration is complete and after a few hours D5 crashes

Low VRAM. If you have checked I have a 3090 which has around 24 GB. how much does D5 render wants.

its been 2 hours im just doing this ahead of my deadline.

@pushkaraj1990

Making changes to these surfaces where the scatter is located essentially requires regenerating it. I’m not just talking about the changes in D5, but also in your 3D model.

You can send us your model so we can check the problematic surface. Thanks
