When trying to reproduce the smoke effect on the coffee mug, following the steps on the D5 Render channel on YouTube, I encountered this problem when applying the depth of field effect to the scene. The scene also has a fog effect. The area corresponding to the basic model plane is marked and interferes with the blur effect of the scene, making it useless. I followed the steps faithfully described on YouTube. It occurs in both Image and Video modes. Could this be a bug?
Sorry for the unsatisfying effect and thanks for your patience and understanding to D5. Please send your file to support@d5techs.com for testing and a thorough investigation. You can also include the complete issue (forum link) and tag me @maslu , for easy tracking. Thanks!
Thank you for waiting. D5 is a powerful and unique software that aims to provide users with faster rendering, but it still has some limitations, particularly with features that are still being perfected. Here is my analysis of your scene and some possible solutions.
The window glass behind the rectangular shape is reflecting the material of the rectangular shape (with smoke material) as if it’s a solid rectangle, instead of an opaque material with smoke. This is a known issue, and our development team is actively working to improve it. We hope to release an update to address this issue soon. In the meantime, you can try tilting the rectangle shape and adjusting its size to minimize the areas covered by the shape. Any remaining issues can be easily fixed in Photoshop.
Since I also need to generate an animation of this scene, I don’t think it will be possible to make any corrections in Photoshop. For this project, I will have to disable Depth of Field to have something presentable for the client. And wait for another opportunity in case this software limitation is corrected.
Thanks for the feedback!
