VIDEO MEMORY: 8GB GDDR6
PLEASE i need help immediately my system keeps overheating and shutting down when I use My D5 render my lumion does not behave like this and other Rendering software I use. I need help advise anyone or any tips and trick I can use to over come this.
Itâs possible that D5 is taking your CPU over the temperature limit. Can you get a baseline temperature of your CPU? You can do that through your BIOS. If itâs already high then you might want to check state of your thermal paste on the CPU and possibly the CPU fan.
Hello, when using D5, due to high memory or video memory usage, you may experience software crashes or computer heating problems. You can try to set the virtual memory. For video memory related issues, try to reduce the use of some high quality assets, depth of field and Tyndall effects may help. For the heat issue, maybe you can try to use an external fan.
Same issues for me. Really donât know why its happening. I set up my scenes in âsmoothâ mode.
Iâm on a workstation class machine maxed out @96gb ram, 20 core, 24GB RTX3090 nvmeSSD. I have an app that is supposed to control fans, but it doesnât when the app runs.
With D5 running it revs up like a jet engine and doesnât come down. D5 is the only software that does this. Lumion, UE5, Twinmotion, Blender Cycles, Octane Render⌠none flip into high gear.
Last time this happened I was just messing about with a basic scene and no assets in it.
You can also try a clean install of your drivers. It is also suggested to check if your power supply is lacking in wattage.
If none of these methods work, please send us your logs. We will check it. This post shows how to collect logs. D5 Support Tool - Get Help / Tech Support - D5 RENDER FORUM

Hi! Im having the same problem, since the new version, my laptop starts to heat A LOT, I already checked out everything, and all looks fine and normal, and neither of revit, lumion, or any adobe program gives me this problem.
I really really nead to solve this as soon as possible.
I have two workstations with D5,
Intel(R) Core⢠i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
64.0 GB Ram
Asus Nvidia TUF Gaming GeForce RTX⢠3090 Ti OC Edition 24GB
None of these computers exceed the temperature of 68 degrees of heat on the video cards, they are controlled by the bios and an Asus application that is set to the safe working value.
When I upgraded to the 4090 board, I moved the 3090 down to the smaller computer that had an Egva 2080 Ti with which the temperature reached 85 degrees with system warnings to lower it.
When changing the 2080 for the 3090 I took the precaution of adding additional fans and the temperature controller that I mentioned above.
I have never had any problems again for a year.
and the fans are silent without squealing like they did before.
On the new computer I took the following precautions:
A larger case for good ventilation
More additional fans
The Asus temperature control
Do not overclock the processor
Do not overclock the video card
Despite having 6000 mhz RAM
I lowered the working speed to 2400 mhz
This post is old but I suffered for six months with the same problem, before find out what was the cause. I hope this help someone.
The problem is the D5 energy consumption, specially when you open the launcher and medium to large scene. If your power supply don´t have enough power, it start to push it up to the limit, which first cause the overheating, then start to demange your power supply, which causes the crashes. I my system is demanding about 900w just to open D5 render, when by default in high demanding jobs it should not pass 650w. I had to upgrade from 850w 80+plus gold to a 1000w 80+plus platinum power supply, and high rpm-cfm fans.
