I have an imported model that has some overlapping surfaces, causing the material I assign to flicker. Is there any solution for this that doesn’t involve remodeling to separate the surfaces?
Hello, @gag
I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this issue. Is this problem specific to a particular file or does it happen with all of your files? Which modeling software are you currently using?
When there’s an overlapping surface, it can make the model appear to flicker, especially when it’s very noticeable. I highly recommend that you return to your modeling software and fix your model by either deleting any unnecessary parts or optimizing them before syncing it to D5. This will help you avoid overlapping and flickering surfaces in D5 Render.
Thank you.
The problem occurs with any file. Sometimes I import third-party models that have overlapping surfaces, and this happens. I wanted to know if D5 Render had any solution for these cases, like Lumion has had for a long time, where you can use a material variable to tell it to stay on top or below, solving this problem. If it doesn’t exist in D5 Render, I’ll leave the request for future updates. It would be a great update expected by many users since I’ve read that it happens to a lot of people. Thanks in advance.
Hi @gag
Thank you for your response. Currently, D5 does not have a feature to remove and delete any surfaces coming from your workflow software. However, we appreciate your suggestion and would like to ask you to add it to our Ideas & Requests - D5 RENDER FORUM so that our internal team can review the most requested features and possibly prioritize it. As for your concern, my alternative solution is for you to revisit your workflow software and delete all the overlapping surfaces.
Thank you for understanding.
