As soon as my rendering file finishes loading, the d5 program quits. Maybe it’s because I created a scatter file that was too large. I need to get my files back as quickly as possible. Please help me.
Hi there, I apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused. Can you also send your Memory and VRAM information (please open the file while you are accessing this information)
- Does this also occur in other project files? Or is it file-specific?
- You may want to try deleting your pak files (located in the f2 folder) first. This will allow you to access the file without crashing. Then, remove the scatter before updating the assets again. Keep in mind that when you delete your pak files, you will need to update the assets once you open the scene files. However, this process won’t delete or remove the asset’s position in your file.
Let me know if this helps, thank you.
Thank you for solution!
I solve this problem by deleting the pak files!
i am on D5 version latest.
I am on a file whichis now very heavy, may be due to some scatter files.
i am not able to locate this pak file to delete to get to my file without risking the complete rework…please help urgent
I apologize for the inconvenience. Deleting your pak files does not risk you from rework, it will just convert all of the assets to a white box-like appearance, which will lessen the VRAM or GPU load, making the file openable (if you are unable to open it).
- You’ve mentioned that your file is already very heavy, may I know your VRAM Info?
- If it has exceeded your VRAM, I suggest optimizing your file by hiding and deleting assets that are not evident in scenes, running smooth mode, disabling Path Tracing, etc.
There are multiple folders in the “f2” folder. If I delete them all would this affect all my existing projects?
It will affect all assets and projects, but it will just revert back to a square-like icon instead of having the full appearance of the asset. And if you open your file again after deleting the f2 folder, you’ll be prompted to update it.
Thank you for confirming this. It really takes no effort ot update the assets. However, the software keeps crashing even after I removed everything that I thought was causing the issue. It was just fine before I used the scatter tool. Now I had to remove all 3D assets before updating the file in order to stop it from crashing. I have not tested other projects yet.
I am running RTX4060 with 32GB RAM. The GPU driver version is: 577.00 Released on July 22 2025
Thanks!
Hi @SnakyG
May I know which version of D5 you are currently running, 2.11?
- If you’re running 2.11 and these files were normally opened in 2.10 then it might be one of the hottest issues that we’re currently solving right now.
- How heavy is this specific file?
Please also send us the following:
- System Info
- VRAM - Open your D5 File while accessing this portion
- Memory Speed
Thank you for your reply. Please find the requested screenshots attached.
I’d appreciate your advice on how to resolve this issue so I can complete the project within the required timeframe.
Here’s what happened:
I deleted the files from the “f2” folder, which allowed me to open the D5 file. After that, I deleted all D5 3D and 2D assets, and the file functioned normally. However, once I reintroduced D5 assets and saved the project, the file became inaccessible again — the software crashes at the loading screen.
Could you please advise on how to proceed?

Hi @SnakyG
Can you try disabling your Integrated GPU, or making sure d5 is using your RTX GPU? It seems like it’s exerting more effort than your dedicated (RTX) GPU, which should be the other way around.
-
Set D5 App to use your RTX GPU
-
Disable iGPU
Already done as shown on your screenshots above. Not sure why it is showing that the integrated GPU has a higher load. Also, I took the screenshots while the software was loading the file. Obviously, I can`t take screenshots when the file is loaded because it crashes on the loading screen.
I assume disabling didn’t help?
Hi Clov,
This was a huge setback and a massive failure on D5. We are moving back to Lumion where we know we get the quality and reliability we need.
Thanks
