My file crashes when trying to load at 25%

Hi, my file crashes when I am trying to open it, at 25%. I think it is because I am using true displacement and remeshing an object with too much subdivisions, so when I try to open the file y gets stuck at 25% and then crashes.

I already tried by deleting the f2 files and nothing. Also I cant open the previous history versiones of the file.

PLEASE HELP, I dont know what else to do.

Hi @fedemarzano03

I’m sorry for the inconvenience caused. Could you please confirm the following:

  1. Did the file start crashing immediately after true displacement? Was it applied to multiple objects, or only one?
  2. Was the remeshed object imported from another software? If yes, which software?
  3. Do other D5 projects open normally on your device?
  4. Are you receiving any specific error message, or does the application just close?

Also, please share:

Thank you, and I am looking forward to your reply.

Hi, Ela

  1. The file started crashing after I used true displacement and then closing the file normally. It was applied to only one object.
  2. The whole geometry was imported from Revit.
  3. Every other file opens normally, just this file crashes.

Do you need my file?

Thank you for your response.

If I send you my file can you recover it? I invested a lot of time in that project and if I have to re make it it would be catastrophic!!!

Hi @fedemarzano03

Thanks for clarifying the details. Could you please confirm which email address you used when sending the file? I could not find an email associated with your account. Did you send it to support@d5techs.com?

From fedemarzano03@hotmail.com

I managed to fix the error by deleting the texture that had true displacement on, but this new feature is pure SHIT, it almost cost me to redo all my project.

Hi @fedemarzano03

Thank you for the update, and I appreciate you letting us know how you solved it. Thanks for sending the file as well. I’ve received it successfully. I’ll test it on my end to see if I can replicate the behavior with True Displacement enabled. I’ll get back to you once I have more findings.

Hi @fedemarzano03

Thank you for your patience. I’ve tested your file on my end, and I can confirm the same behavior occurs here. The file does not load past 25% — it freezes there and eventually crashes.

Additionally, since you mentioned earlier that the issue was fixed by deleting the texture with true displacement enabled, could you please also share your D5 log files and the original imported Revit file (if applicable)?

Please send them to the same email support@d5techs.com and tag me in the email so I can track it properly. I’ll keep your case on record for our team’s investigation. Thank you again for your cooperation.
