Missing shadows in rendering

D5 Render Version: 2.6.1
Graphics Card: RTX 3050 Ti

Hi,
if I render below wall lamp in Rhino, I get nice shadows on the wall (1st image), caused by the metal frame. If I render it with D5, there is no shadow at all (2nd image).

I tried to switch off the imported point-light from Rhino and inserted one of D5. It didn’t help. Though I get shadows when I put a spotlight in D5 outside the fixture (3rd image).

Any idea what’s wrong? THX

Maybe send your model file to us, we will check it. (support@d5techs.com, and please describe the problem)

Hello, we have checked your problem.

I think when you sync the rhino’s lights to the D5, it’s in the same position, but there is no light source radius parameter in rhino. When this parameter is 0, the D5 will show the same lighting effects as in rhino, but in D5 the default value for this parameter is 5.

Hello LunaLang,
indeed, the light source radius was the problem. Sharpness of shadow can be adjusted finely with a number between 0 (sharp) and approx 2 (blurry). Then the shadow disappears slowly.

Many thanks, I can’t tell how many hours I spent with this issue.

BTW, I’m working with Rhino 8 and as far no other problem.

Jack
