Material groups/layers not recognised from Rhino3D

Objects in my Rhino3D file are on different layers, assigned with their own material in Rhino. When the model is synced to D5, some objects are then grouped together and can only be given the same material in D5. Will D5 recognise objects with an assigned material in Rhino3D that are in sub-layers in Rhino3D?

Any help or guidance is much appreciated, thank you.
