Steps to Reproduce (optional):

Hi,massa.cm,

Does the Arnold Materials with normal maps display correctly In D5?

Is the Base Color Map empty in D5? If empty, probably related to AI maps.

Can you send your model and ai maps to us for the test?

Here is the address: support@d5techs.com

Hi Bruce,

I sent the model separately. I ended up sending (3) materials and hopefully they made it there due to size restrictions. The Arnold Standard Maps are the Layer RGB and the Image maps. I really hope that D5 can render these Arnold Standard Maps and not just the Legacy type. Legacy work fine and I really would prefer to use the newer better method. Thanks again, Sandra

Received, thank you for your feedback.

Hi Bruce,

Fantastic! Maybe Arnold’s conversions to .tx files for maps to reduce rendering time might be a viable transfer to D5. I have been using this method and it does create extra .tx files in the folder and is much faster after initial conversion. Please see attached Thanks, Sandra

Oh, nice, thank you for your feedback, feel free to tell us any problems.

Hi Bruce,

Will do! Please let me know when there is a fix for Arnold Image Based Maps/Materials working in D5. Thanks!

Hi massa.sm, we checked the file you sent, and found that the material you use is Arnold standard surface material, for which we only support mapping the base color map, while other maps are not supported.

If you have vray or corona on 3ds max, then you can try using them because we support more materials parameters for them. For Arnold, you can use standard legacy materials, for which we support more parameters for mapping.

Hi Oliver,
Will there be support in the future for the newer Arnold standard surface materials? I don’t want to go back to legacy, since the newer Arnold image maps render so much better than the legacy type. In the meantime, I’ll just have to re-do materials in D5 and hope that these are supported in the future.

Thanks,
Sandra

Hi Oliver,

Thank you for the heads up! Moving forward hopefully in the future D5 will be supporting current versions of Arnold materials. In the meantime, I will have to redo materials from scratch in D5 since rendering preferences in Arnold are the new material maps.
Best,
Sandra

Hi mate, sorry for the inconvenience. I have also shared your feedback with the dev and product team. We will try to support those materials as you mentioned, thanks!

Hi Oliver,

That would be a fantastic workflow! Again, maybe the option to convert to text and render faster native in Max to A now could be a more compatible way to import into D5?

Thanks,
Sandra
