Imported FBX Disappears After Reloading – Temporary Blender Workaround

Hi everyone,

I work with Archicad and D5 Render. While working on a project, I needed to update my architectural model, so I exported it as an FBX file (as usual, since it’s lighter than D5A). However, when I reloaded it in D5, my model was completely overridden with nothing. It was quite a shock.

Fortunately, I found a workaround: I imported the same FBX into Blender and then exported it again from Blender as a new FBX. This version worked perfectly in D5 Render — all materials were preserved and the model loaded correctly.

The issue is: this really shouldn’t be happening. I work in a company with other team members who don’t know how to go through Blender just to make this work. Doing this every time I need to update the model is very time-consuming and not ideal in a production environment.

So I’m sharing this workaround in case it helps others. FBX files exported from Blender keep all the materials applied, so I didn’t lose any of my work. Still, I’m hoping to get an official response from the tech team about a proper fix or recommended workflow.

Best regards,
David Augusto

D5 Render Version: 2.10
Graphics Card: RTX 4090
Driver Version: Latest
Issue Description: Imported asset disappears after reloading
Screenshots/Videos: (attached if applicable)
Steps to Reproduce (optional): Export FBX from Archicad → Reload in D5 → Model disappears

I work with Archicad and D5 render and while i was working and need to update my architecture model, i went to export FBX as always (is lighter than d5a) and when i reloaded it, the model override my existent model with NOTHING, i was pretty shocked but managed to import the FBX to Blender than Exported FBX back from Blender, and worked like a charm on D5 Render.

The point is: This cannot happen, i work in a enterprise with other people that doesnt know to do this (export to blender, export from blender to d5) and is quite time-consuming making this extra step every single time i have to update my model.

So here i left my contribution (FBX from blender maintain all materials applied, so i doesnt lose anything i’ve made), and beg from any answer from tech team for a solution

Best regards,
David Augusto

Hi @David_Augusto_Unyt

I apologize for the inconvenience. I cant seem to replicate this particular issue that you are currently experiencing. Can you provide a detailed process?

I tried it on my end, and this is my process:

  • I’m using AC 28, I exported the AC Model (Save As > FBX Model), before proceeding, a window prompt appeared, and these are the boxes that I checked.
    Snipaste_2025-05-27_07-08-12

  • I proceeded to import it in D5 Render and changed some materials from the D5 Library

  • After that, I modified the AC28 Model by deleting the Wood Slats, then exporting it in the same manner and on the same exact file name of the first FBX file (basically, I just replaced the first FBX file with this one).

  • I select the model in D5 first, then reload it by clicking the “Reload Button”

  • After reloading, the materials have been retained, and the model has been successfully updated.

Do we have the same process? If not, please try to follow mine and see if there are any issues. Thank you.

Yes, that is the same process that i usually do but this time, the model just vanished. I managed to open on blender to make shure the model wasn’t corrupted somehow, but it was absolutely normal, than i exported to fbx from blender and the model showed up in D5 normally

Hi @David_Augusto_Unyt

Can you perhaps send us the FBX and AC file that vanished on your end? You may send it to support@d5techs.com and have it titled 'Clov-Forum Imported FBX Disappears after Reloading’
