Greetings all , I trust you are doing well? I need some help please as im going around in circles. I have the opportunity to upgrade my pc I am currently running a old i7 8700k, 48gig ram , 3070ti , nvme drive.
I am looking at going to AMD with my next upgrade . I am looking at the following upgrade
Cpu:( 9600x / 9700x or perhaps the 7800x3D )
DDR5: 32gig 6000mhz
I can currently run d5 on my current setup but i can see when i am bringing in a 2 story luxury house with allot of decor it starts slowing down once the lighting goes in. I have tried various other models and get the same results. I am not so much worried about render time i know the 3070ti is the cause of slower render times.
My question would be i know my setup is old - do i rather upgrade my gpu to something bigger that will give me more ram on the gpu ( i do understand my curernt i7 is old and probably will bottleneck the gpu in any case ? ) or do i upgrade my setup carry on with the 3070ti until i can upgrade the gpu to something bigger.
Also what kind of boost in performance will i see by doing the amd upgrade over my old i7 will it be really noticeable as old as it is I can play everyday games , can use various softwares without issues I actually am only wanting to upgrade to avoid the software slowing down when i am at the end of my project just before hitting render.
Im guessing your talking about your CPU instead of your GPU since you’ve mentioned about your i7 8700k. In general, upgrading your CPU only has a little effect on improving the your device’s performance with D5 Render.
If you are looking for a boost of performance then definitely upgrading your GPU with a bigger VRAM would be better.
Thank you for the response - that is correct i was considering upgrading my cpu since the 3070ti is 27% bottlenecking with my current i7 cpu. I am worried if i upgrade my gpu to a 5070 for example that the bottlenecking will be worse and i wont see an improvement.
Unfortunately my budget for upgrade either allows for 1x new cpu+mobo+ram+cooler or 1 x gpu. I was hoping there was a precise page or website that could recommend minimum requirments , med requirements , high end requirements for me to see exactly what is required for high end ( for example lumion has a page that is dedicated to showing this program is more for single core use aka get a cpu that handles single core perfomance rating above (xyz). For graphics card again for high end rating you require a rating of (xyz) then you know where you need to be to run flawless.
I have tried browsing the web and i cant find one single straight answer that says use this or this.
