[Hot Issue] Frequent crashes in D5 Render during normal use after update to 3.0.0 & 3.0.1

Hi @giovani

Yes, antivirus software can sometimes cause this issue. In particular, we’ve received reports that Kaspersky may block or interfere with D5.

Could you please try temporarily disabling your antivirus to see if the issue persists? If that resolves the problem, we recommend adding D5 to the antivirus whitelist/exclusion list to prevent it from being blocked.

Please let us know the results after testing. Thank you

I get a little cranky sometimes.

Anyway, I went and disabled Turbo Mode in my bios. I’m sure this solved the problem a few years ago. It was enabled when I changed it this afternoon. I went and disabled it. Let’s see if this stops the crashing.

Doesn’t seem to affect performance unless you’re a gamer and counting FPS.

I cant figure out what really affects this, is really random but righ now ccant be used. Its closed within 10 minutes!!! not matter if i turn off pc or anything, keeps closing every 10 minutes

Hi @alianisileo

I sent you a private message. Please check your inbox here in the Forum. Thank you

Ela, nothing in my inbox.

Hi @gusrobatto

Sorry about that — I accidentally tagged you. I meant to tag someone else. Thanks so much for understanding. :face_holding_back_tears:

Hello @ela
On which day is the remote troubleshooting planed ? Please let me know. The crashes keep happenning.
Kind Regards,
Vineeth

Hello again everyone, quick question: is anybody experiecing those crashes with a 8gb VRAM GPU? … I’m checking the VRAM usage through the task manager while using D5 and I’m really near the maximum VRAM usage (7,5gb on 8gbmax)… so maybe the issue is that at some point the system reaches the 8gb peak and the software crashes…

Well I was about to declare victory a few hours ago when I suddenly got a random crash. It’s a crash to desktop as usual. AKA a CTD. So turning off Turbo Mode made no difference. It was right when I was doing a PBR transfer. That’s not the cause or for whatever reason these crashes are random and can happen even when D5 is standing still. It could be something in these models. I was asked to upload a model but it would mean at least two models. We’ll see. It’s been weeks now and no answer on anyone’s end.

Just went back to do the PBR materials again. Same textures. No crash.

This was the crash in Windows 10 Event Viewer:

Ela,

I sent a direct link from Google Drive to D5 Support for a zip file of a D5 scene. The whole ball of wax.

Let me know if y’all get it. Too big for Wetransfer without paying more there.

Hey you’ve already shared around 10 possible fixes that sounded like they would solve the issue, but unfortunately none of them worked in the end . Pleasee, you giving us false hope and a lot of us are here with our hearts in our hands.

@Ela , is there any update on a solution? I have a deadline in just a few hours, and honestly this last day has been the worst. I literally can’t work anymore. The file stays open for less than 5 minutes before crashing. I don’t even have time to save, and on top of that I have to wait 20 minutes every time just for the file to open again.

I’d really appreciate any updates as soon as possible.

Thank you,
Best regards.

Tom, I don’t work here.

Oh sorry, and thank you for the helpful feedback. I’m a bit nervous about the situation, so I apologize. I really hope it can be resolved for everyone.

Literally, these last few hours have been the worst. I’ve already spent 8 hours unable to make even 5 minutes of progress because it keeps crashing. I honestly don’t know what to do anymore!

That’s OK, Tom. I suddenly start getting crashes again when I think I fixed it and I’m just flipping desks about it. Especially when it goes almost 24 hours without a crash and then suddenly, boom, it crashes.

Maybe it’s something related to the internet or a connection, or I’m not sure what’s going on, but there are times (like right now) when it crashes every two minutes. Yesterday, at a different time, I was able to work normally.

I don’t think it’s my PC, because I restart it and set the fans to maximum until everything is cool.

I thought about the internet but I’m getting close to 1GB per second here. It crossed my mind that it might be a corrupted asset? I do import a few assets using Blender and Blenderkit. It’s still completely random. No warning messages. Just blinks and crashes. Even if I just open a file and let D5 sit there idle it can crash. Nothing else on my computer is doing this or showing any symptoms. Just D5.

I have been trying to clear the DX or GL cache (Nvidia) and doing a cold reboot. That is shutting the machine down completely and restarting. I’m not sure that fixes it. It seems to at times.

Hi @vineeth82kumar

Thank you for your patience. The remote troubleshooting session has not been scheduled yet, as we are coordinating availability with our test engineer and other users in the queue. I will update you as soon as we have a confirmed date and time.

Could you please let me know your timezone and available hours so we can plan the session accordingly? This will help us schedule it at a convenient time for you.

Hi @gusrobatto

Thank you for sending the Google Drive link — we have received your D5 scene zip file.

We will begin reviewing the files and will update you once we have feedback or further steps. Thank you for your patience.

Hi @tomlaremin

Thank you for your patience and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. We haven’t identified a definitive root cause yet, which is why we are asking for more details so we can investigate properly.

Could you please help by providing the following information?

  1. What exact version of D5 Render are you using?
  2. Did the crashes start only after updating to this version?
  3. Are there any error prompts or messages before the app closes?
  4. Does it crash on new empty projects, or only on specific files?
  5. Does it happen randomly, or when performing a specific task (e.g., rendering, editing materials, syncing, etc.)?
  6. Could you share a screenshot of your D5 system info?
  7. While working on the project, does your VRAM usage exceed 80% in Task Manager? If it spikes that high, it can trigger crashes.

Could you also please collect your log files? Send them to support@d5techs.com, tag me in the email and include a link to this forum thread for reference.

Remote troubleshooting is still available, and it would allow us to check your device directly and gather deeper diagnostics. If you are open to it, please let me know your availability so I can add you to the queue.
