D5 Render Version:2.11.0
Graphics Card:rx 6700xt
Driver Version:25.8.1
Issue Description: Since updating to version 2.11, I am experiencing a critical issue when applying the Grass material. Even in an empty scene with a single small surface, as soon as I apply the Grass material, my CPU usage spikes to 100% and the system temperature rises rapidly (close to 100 °C) until D5 crashes.
Screenshots/Videos Description:
Steps to Reproduce (optional):
This issue is reproducible every time:
Start a new scene (empty).
Create a simple surface (plane).
Apply the Grass material.
CPU usage immediately jumps to 100% → temperature rises → D5 crashes within seconds.
I tested it with different file sizes and projects, and the problem only occurs with the Grass material. Other PBR materials work fine.

Your dedicated GPU (RX 6700 XT) should be the one carrying the load whenever you open or use D5 Render instead of your CPU. Otherwise, it may indicate that D5 is utilizing your CPU instead of the GPU.
You can try temporarily disabling your integrated GPU, then try again.
Or use AMD App to make sure that your device is set to the maximum performance.
Thank you very much for the response, but this is not a rendering issue — it happens during modeling. As you mentioned, my RX 6700 XT is powerful enough and can even handle large renders in D5 without any problems. The issue only occurs when I zoom in on a surface with the Grass material applied, and it is the CPU that overheats by going up to 100% (while the integrated graphics remain at 0%). On the other hand, the GPU shows no VRAM issues.
Alright, thanks for the clarification. Have you tried updating your BIOS? Windows Version? Or a clean reinstallation of your Drivers? I suggest doing so.
As you can see in the video, there isn’t an actual overload, but the FPS drop. It seems that following the steps of running as administrator and then restarting the system to adjust TDR values (or something like that) prevents the CPU from maxing out, but the program still freezes. I also noticed that this only happens in Performance mode — in Accurate mode it runs better, which doesn’t really make sense.
in response of your question, yes, i have the lates drivers
i find rar tha the low fps is in the performance mode(and the entire pc gets low fps and sometimes it vcrashed the pc and i have to reset de pc), in the presice mode the program is smoot
the vram is not the problem, as you can see its not full
