GPU & CPU

**D5 Render Version:**newest
Issue Description: GPU & CPU

I recently purchased a one-year license for D5 Render, but my current PC struggles to run it smoothly. I’m planning to buy a new computer that balances performance and affordability. Could someone familiar with hardware kindly advise which of the two options below would work better with D5 Render?

Option A:

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2000 Ada Generation (8GB GDDR6)
  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 165H (16 cores, 24MB cache, up to 5.0GHz)

Option B:

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 (8GB GDDR6, Boost Clock 2175MHz, 140W TGP)
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-14650HX (16 cores, 30MB cache, up to 5.2GHz)

I understand the final choice is my responsibility, but I’d greatly appreciate any insights on which specs would optimize D5 Render’s performance. If it’s easier, feel free to reply on the forum—others might benefit from the advice too!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @anu.jalarvo

Personally, I would prefer Option B, but I think having an 8GB Dedicated Video Memory is quite limited, most especially when you’re handling some large files. If it’s possible, a 12GB or 16GB would suffice. Nevertheless, I would choose the RTX 4070 setup.

Hi anu.jalarvo,

I use the RTX A4000 at work. At home, I have the GeForce RTX 4070.
The RTX 4070 is cheaper and faster than the A4000.

I would choose option B.
