Hi - we have a client that uses your software and should have a paid version linked to his email. He is having freezing issues when sending files from Archicad to D5. I can temporarily resolve this by using Revo uninstaller to remove the software, then reinstall it (seems to work better than using the inbuilt uninstaller). Unfortunately the issues always come back. The AV on his PC is Malwarebytes, managed by us, and I have put in an exclusion for your software, and completely removed the AV to rule out its involvement. The issues remain and ideally need to be resolved, but not sure how to proceed at this point, so would greatly appreciate your assistance.
Information as follows:
D5 Render Version:
D5 Render 2.1.0.0303 Graphics Card:
NVIDIA Quadro P2200
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
Both are installed, running independently for different applications. I understand D5 has no ability to select from multiple available GPU’s, so I am not sure which one of these will be in use by D5. Driver Version:
NVIDIA FrameView SDK 1.2.7321.30900954|1.2.7321.30900954
NVIDIA GeForce Experience 3.25.0.84|3.25.0.84
NVIDIA Graphics Driver 512.15|512.15
NVIDIA HD Audio Driver 1.3.39.3|1.3.39.3
NVIDIA PhysX System Software 9.21.0713|9.21.0713
NVIDIA RTX Desktop Manager 202.62 Issue Description:
Description provided by client:
“So we mainly use the program by exporting a 3d model from archicad to D5 render.
From the main 2d layout in archicad push F3 and it will launch the 3d window.
From there select ‘start D5’ from the D5 Render drop down menu. As shown below.
From there it should open in D5, but seems to crash when I try to do anything.” Screenshots/Videos Description:
Hello bits, thanks for posting. First, have you confirmed that this issue is related to the AV software? I mean, if your client turns off the AV when using D5 and Archicad plugin, the problem will not happen? Also, please ask the client whether the problem happens if he/she opens D5 Render individually, without Archicad and the plugin.
If the problem is related to the AV, then we need to know what file or operation causes the AV blocking us.
And if not, you may let client go to Nvidia control panel, to make sure D5 is running with RTX3060, and SLI is turned off.
AV involvement ruled out. D5 works fine on it’s own it seems, the problem is specifically when transferring files from Archicad. SLI is not in place for this client. Does the NVIDIA control panel allow selection of GPU to app? I thought that this could only be set in the application and D5 does not have an option for GPU selection?
Hello, in D5 we do not have the option, but in Nvidia control panel there is the setting to control that.
Besides, I want to know whether the problem happens to multiple Archicad files or a specific one, and the issue is Archicad freezes, right?
What if you open D5 Render in advance, then start sync in archicad?
I think it may not be related to GPU as well, maybe the RAM is not enough?
Archicad continues to work fine, it is D5 that freezes. This issue occurs with any file that sync is attempted with, it is not file specific. The issue occurs whether D5 is open before sync or not. 64GB of RAM in his PC and an i9-11900K CPU - this issue is not caused by a lack of resources.
AV was already uninstalled to test but did not change things so I put it back. I will remove it again then uninstall/reinstall D5 Render and its plugins to see if that changes anything and get back to you with the results, including those log files if issues persist.
D5 sync working after fresh install of D5 and antivirus has been removed as a variable. I have requested the user to test functions for a period of at least a few days to ensure it doesn’t break again, because this was the same behavior as last time, and I will get back to you on the results, including log files if issues recur.
Hello bits, I checked the logs and found the issue seems still related to antivirus software.
First, please try opening D5 Render beforehand, then leave the Welcome page there, and start sync from Archicad, can it work?
Second, please turn off antivirus software then reinstall D5 and the plugin.
Here is a new version of the plugin, please try this D5_Converter_ARCHICAD_usa_0.5.0.exe.7z (3.9 MB)
