I’m experiencing a strange issue with rendering on my laptop. When I zoom in on rendered images, I notice deformed areas that shouldn’t be there.
To troubleshoot, I rendered the exact same scene on my friend’s laptop, which is identical to mine (Lenovo Pro 7 with Core i9, RTX 4090, and 32GB RAM). Surprisingly, it worked perfectly on their device without any issues.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Updated the graphics card driver.
Updated Windows.
Uninstalled and reinstalled D5 Render.
Tested rendering with other files, but the issue persists.
Despite these steps, the problem remains unresolved.
I’m reaching out here in hopes that someone might be able to assist or provide insights into what could be causing this issue.
attached are zoom in cropped image the original image was rendered in 6K
Update:
system restarted - 6k - SR off - LOD off - setting GI=3 ref depth=1 SPP=100 rough,=0.5
same issue,
It clearly does this when the object is further away from the camera (which LOD off should take care of it)
I am missing the delivery today anyway, but it is good to know the issue for the rest of the projects
Well actually I do not expect to see it accurate in the preview since it is a very narrow parallel edge detail. But closer to the camera it shows very well, like the render
I tried triplaner but did not get the result either, but will try that again
And sens the D5 file to you as well asap
Yes, we were able to replicate the issue, even with the final rendered image, it is visible and when zoomed in, it will disappear. We will be further investigating this issue. Thank you.
Our team was able to test the file that you have sent:
The issue that is being experienced in these specific surfaces with this material is the Moiré effect, it’s a common visual distortion in rendering that appears as an unwanted, large-scale pattern of wavy lines, ripples, or colored streaks.
It’s an interference of two or more fine, repetitive patterns that are imperfectly superimposed or sampled. Currently we don’t have a complete workaround for this issue and it may be best to change the material of the grain.
Can you please clarify this for me:
Is the team response message referring to what is showing up in the preview/working view, or what is actually rendered?
Cause the moire effect is a visual distortion, but not an actual distortion. I do not have a problem with D5 showing it as a wavy pattern in the preview window; my main issue is with the output. On your side, did it happen on the rendered image too?
And does the team suggest that if I change the whole pattern with a new one and replace it in the whole project, it might work? Let’s say some similar pattern, but as a new one?
The response is both for the preview and the final rendered image, since after rendering, zooming in/out would have a significant effect, such as the patterns showing normally when zoomed in.
We tried changing the material from the online asset library > Wood Grain; since there were no prominent black line patterns, the issue was not evident. I think you can try to change the pattern, perhaps try to adjust the colour of the lines to something less dark or completely replace it with wood grain texture.
As for the tile which appears distorted on your end, it is normal when we rendered it.
