D5 Sync Vectorworks with update 2.10

The LiveSync plugin for Vectorworks no longer works with D5 Update 2.10. D5 now crashes upon finishing the LiveSync, even with a simple project.

D5 Render Version: 2.10.0.0566
Vectorworks Version: 2025 Update 3
Graphics Card: RTX 4080
Driver Version: 32.0.15.7260

Hi @wellebracht apologies for the inconvenience. Could you please reinstall the plugin from the link; D5 Render for Vectorworks Real-time Rendering Workflow

We will investigate this issue further and resolve it as soon as possible. Thank you.

I have done that, and D5 still crashes upon sync completion

Same problem here.
The allocated working memory increases to 100% during the process. And when 99% of the sync is completed D5 Render crashes.

I have now tested it with two different video cards. an AMD RX7900XTX and an Nvidea 4070 Super. I experience this problem with both cards.

The D5 helpdesk told me today that the memory should not exceed 80%. During the sync it remains below 80% but at the last few percent it increases to 100% memory usage. and also since the last update of D5 render to version 2.10 I also experience this problem.

My company suffers damage because of this. I can now not complete renders for my customers. I hope this will be fixed soon with a new update.

Can you please react as soon as possible?

Yeah, I ended up having to go back to 2.9 to get my renders done for now.

Here’s the link to it, if it helps get your work sorted in the meantime

Hi @wellebracht @markbosch04

I assume this issue persists even with simple models that were made in VectorWorks 2025? This issue is already known and is being fixed, I’m just collecting more information regarding it.

Please send us your Vectorworks file and Log file to support@d5techs.com and have it titled ‘Clov-Forum Vectorworks error 2.10’, If you’re unfamiliar with how to generate a log file, please follow this link: How to use Support Tool? | User Manual

Thats a good idea, I’ll try that for now!

Thanks!

Just send you an email with my Vectorworks file and the Log file.

HI @markbosch04

We’ve received your Vectorworks file and Log file, thank you for your cooperation.

Is this problem fixed in D5 2.10.1 Hotfix? Before I download the Update;)

it hasn’t been crashing anymore with smaller test projects for me, so possibly!

Hi @markbosch04 @wellebracht

Yes, the recent 2.10.1 Hotfix version has addressed the Vectorworks issue. Thank you for the updates on your end.

I just got around to upgrading to version 2.10.2.0589 from 2.9.1.0509, and I get the instant crash described here, tried uninstalling and reinstalling 3 times, including the live sync plugin. So I uninstalled 2.10 and reinstalled 2.9 and Live Sync, and now Vectorworks crashes with version 2.9 and I can’t get any rendering work done. HELP!

Hi @amc

May I know which version of the following software you are using?

  • VectorWorks
  • D5 Plug-in

So basically 2.10.2.0589 is causing VW Crash, does it occur in all of your files, or is it file-specific? Have you tried it with an empty file also?

This issue was addressed and fixed last 2.10.1 Version, so it might be best to use 2.10.2, and we will help with troubleshooting the issue so we can investigate it thoroughly.

I’m using Vectorworks 2025 Update 5 and the latest D5 plug in from your website I downloaded yesterday, but I found the problem. I spent several years at Autodesk in QA many years ago, when they were in Sausalito then San Rafael, hint how long ago that was, and how long I’ve been at this game, and became proficient at digging into bugs.

So after searching poking and prodding around files and regedit a bit, I found that in the folder “C:\Users\CatmanSound\AppData\Roaming\Nemetschek\Vectorworks\2025” D5 places a file named “D5VWSettings.toml”. After deleting this file, the next instance when I ran D5 from within Vectorworks, it gave me a prompt that D5 was not installed, but yet it started and now seems to work fine. I believe this file got corrupted, and no matter how many times I tried uninstalling and reinstalling D5 Live Sync or D5 itself, it appears that maybe this settings file does not get deleted or written over, at least in my case, don’t know but it looks like it’s running fine now. Actually, it’s running better, for a while any changes to my Vectorworks environment, such as turning on and off classes or layers, or adding or modifying objects would not automatically update in D5, I’d have to force a regen, now the change to D5 is almost instant, indicating to me that this file might have been getting corrupt from a while ago.

If you want your tech team to analyze my settings file, I’ll be glad to email it to you. thanks.

Thank you for your quick support response.

Hi @amc

Alright, that’s good to know that you were able to discover the problem and were kind enough to share it with us. Indeed, we would want you to email us your settings file so we can investigate this issue further.

Additionally, it might also be best to include the following:

I have the log file and setting file for you, what is the email you want me to send it, is there an attach file link on this forum.

Hi @amc

You can send it to me via Direct Message, and you can use WeTransfer or Google Drive (make sure to change permission settings).
