D5 Scene work lost and crashes when restoring a backup

D5 Render Version: 2.1
Graphics Card: Rtx 2070

Issue Description: Hello D5 Team, I’ve been working on a project since last week. My workflow consists in working on 2 separated Pcs and saving my project on a extern hard disk. The problem is today I opened my D5 files and everything was gone, the entire project is empty. I do not have any assets loaded but my camera scenes still there.

As soon I know that in version 2.1 there have backup files I tried to restore them, but when I press on ‘‘View History Version’’ D5 suddenly crashes.

I am kind desperate about it, could you please help me with this?

Screenshots/Videos Description:

Hi Mkd, sorry to hear that you ran into this problem, was the file successfully saved?
I think you can try moving the file to an internal hard disk then checking the History version again.

If the problem remains, you can compress the scene file folder then send it to ziyin.zhu@d5techs.com, we will help you check that file.

Second, you can also replace the file with backups manually:

  1. Find the Backup folder, then choose one timeline and copy all files under it.
  2. paste them to the original folder to replace old files.
  3. Rename xxxx.bak to xxxx.drs, to replace the old one.
Then you can reopen the file and check the result.

Please do not open the file too many times in case the backup files were removed.

Hello Oliver. Thank you for the recommendation.
I did the steps that you mentioned and something interesting happened.

After replacing the files with the .bak files, I could open the project with the assets in it as they were, some textures were missing but almost everything were as they should.
The problem is that I could not move any asset from it place. It looked like everything was frozen.
I tried to close the program and reopen it but the loading screen stops at 97%.

Hello, before you replaced the drs file, it is suggested to delete the old one. Besides, please make a copy of the file first, as a backup.
Are those objects locked in the scene? Unlock them then they can be moved.
If the problem remains, please compress the scene file folder then send it to support@d5techs.com and our tech team will help you what is wrong with the file.
