D5 Render Crashes Only When Clicking Video Render (Only My File Has Issues, Scene Express Example Works Fine)

Hello,
I’m experiencing a critical issue where D5 Render crashes every time I attempt to start a video render (Video Render) with my project file. I would appreciate your help with this problem.

System and Environment

  • CPU : Intel Core Ultra9 285k
  • Graphics Card: RTX 5080
  • Power Supply: 1000W
  • D5 Render latest version
  • GPU VRAM usage: Close to 100% (when start video render)
  • GPU-Z Board Power Draw: About 100W (normal is 300–360W), (when start video render)

Optimization and Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken

  • Deleted and minimized heavy objects such as Path Tree and Scatter
  • Deleted the f2 temporary folder
  • Removed unnecessary high-poly assets and objects
  • Closed all background programs and performed a clean boot
  • Tried rendering one video clip at a time
  • Saved the project as a new file and retried

Symptoms

  • Image rendering works normally
  • The program crashes (force closes) immediately after clicking the Video Render button (even it was 720p)
  • Occasional freezing during work
  • GPU-Z shows abnormally low power consumption during the crash

Additional Experience

  • I downloaded and tested the Scene Express example file from the official website, which contains far more scatter objects, a much larger scope, and a more complex setup than my project.
  • Despite being much heavier, the example file opens and video renders without any issues.
  • When rendering the example file, GPU power consumption is normal (close to 300W).
  • In summary, only my project file causes abnormal crashes, while the official example file works perfectly.

Questions

  1. Is there anything else I should check in this situation?
  2. Are there any known cases of similar issues with the RTX 5080, and are there any solutions?
  3. Could the abnormally low GPU power consumption be related to the D5 Render crash?
  4. What could be the difference between my file and the Scene Express example that causes this problem? Any advice would be appreciated.

I’ve tried all the solutions I could find on the forum, but nothing has worked so far.
If you need log files or additional information, please let me know.

Thank you.

Hi there

The detailed, concise, and direct-to-the-point information is highly appreciated.

  • This is indeed an abnormal reaction to this specific file, considering that you have opened another file with a more complex structure and a large quantity of assets.

  • Based on your description, it seems that this issue stems from the file itself and not your device (RTX 5080). Also, there are no known issues for 5080 aside from NVIDIA’s Version issue, which involves Round Corner being enabled in D5.

  • The abnormally low GPU Power Consumption could be a problem, BUT if that’s the case then this problem should be experienced all across your files and should not be file-specific.

I may need to collect your Scene File and Log File so we can test it on our end.

I sent my file. Thank you!

Hi there @semu68267

We were able to test your file on our end and there were no crashing that occurred upon clicking the video icon.

  • The device we used for testing your file has a large VRAM which we suspect, the reason why it didn’t crash on our end. The VRAM is at 24.4 GB which has exceeded your device’s VRAM which may have caused the crash. Video memory determines the performance of handling complex scenes.

  • I’ve also tried hiding all of the assets but there were no significant changes in the VRAM’s value unless the main model is hidden. Thus, it’s best to try to optimize your model and reduce the number of polygons. You may also want to try to separate the Main Model from the Models surrounding the structure by directly importing them separately.
