D5 render 2.8 with NVIDIA 3080 > black screen and computer freezes

Hi All,

We have a HP Omen with a NVIDIA 3080 videocard which has a renderqueue issue where with certain D5 render files both displays go black/off and the PC needs to be shut down hard en rebooted.
I have changed the NVIDIA videocard driver from studio to game and clear out TMP folder in windows, but nothing seem to help.
Another PC does not experience these issues. Any idea where to look for next to get this PC stable with D5 render? Other software like Sketchup or Vectorworks do not have any errors, no black screens nothing. It is only happening with certain files in the D5 render software only.
I have created the logs from D5 render, so those are available as well.

Please help.
Kind regards

Eva

D5 Render Version: 2.8.0.0471
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 3080
Driver Version: 560.70

Issue Description:
D5 render - renderqueue stops at 10-20% and the PC screens go black. Only option is to turn off the PC and restart.

Steps to Reproduce (optional):
It seems limited to certain projects, but updates, changing NVIDIA drivers and upgrading to Win11 pro do not resolve this issue.
Another PC does not have these issues with these files.

Hi, I’m not a technician, maybe you’re better than me, but in the forum several users have talked about this problem, check if your PC is Overclocked CPU. Usually the team advises not to do this, there are various arguments on this. In your case, if this is not the case, the D5 team will surely answer you.

Hi Riccardo,
Thank you for your reply/tip. The PC is completely default/out of the box. So I would think or expect that this PC is not overclocked by default.
I will check to make sure, but hopefully the D5 team will have some tips or a solution for us.
Thanks!
Kind regards

Eva

Hi there,

Sorry that this is happening to you, May i know your computer specifications?
And as you have said it is limited to certain projects right?
Could you send one to me via DM or email to support@d5techs.com and tag me “@Aryan” so that i could pull it up quickly.

Also when rendering could you please monitor your RAM and VRAM usage.
