I was working on my project yesterday without any issues. However, today when I tried to open it, D5 displayed a warning that the TDR delay value on my system seems low. This is strange, as I had already addressed this warning when I first installed D5, and it appeared to have been resolved.
I allowed D5 to apply the suggested fix, but the program crashed during the process. Since then, every time I try to open that specific project file, D5 crashes while loading it.
I’ve already updated my graphics card drivers and rebooted the system, but the problem persists. I also tried opening the file on another machine, and D5 reports that the project file is corrupted.
Could you please help me resolve this issue? I’m happy to share the file with you if needed.
Below are my system specs
Thank you!
**D5 Render Version: 2.10.1.0579
**Graphics Card: RTX 3080 Ti Laptop
**Driver Version: Nvidia Studio Driver 576.80
I apologize for the inconvenience. Did you perhaps transfer the .drs file location out side of the file folder? Or perhaps rename it? Were there any actions that might have caused the File Corruption to happen?
Please send us your Log and D5 File to support@d5techs.com and have it titled ‘Clov-Forum D5 Crashes When Opening One Specific File’
Hi @Clov
You should have just received an email from the address ja********a@gmail.com with the log and D5 file attached, as requested.
To answer your questions:
The file was neither transferred nor renamed.
One thing worth mentioning is that the entire project is stored in a folder that’s automatically synced to the cloud. However, we’ve never experienced any corruption issues with other D5 projects stored this way, so I’m not sure if that could have contributed to the file corruption.
Additionally, another detail that may be worth mentioning is that the file was created using “Save As” from another project. That said, it had been working without any problems for several days and opened correctly multiple times. It was only during the last attempt that the file appeared to be corrupted.
We can’t seem to download the file due to the website you are using. Please send us again, and this time, I highly suggest using either Google Drive or WeTransfer.
Additionally, There’s no issue when it comes to:
Storing these files on a Cloud Storage, unless you are currently opening it and editing/doing some work while being placed in the Cloud Storage. We recommend placing them first in a local file path if you plan on opening these files. Since we have yet to optimize this workflow, it may cause some issues.
Creating a new copy of a particular file via the “Save-As” button should have no issues.
Sidenote: I’d recommend using TransferNow for the D5 crew. Maybe considering this Why?
Since WeTransfer was acquired, their free version now limits users to only 10 transfers per month and a 3GB file size limit, which can be restrictive for frequent file sharing.
In contrast, TransferNow offers several advantages:
5GB per file, which is larger than WeTransfer’s 3GB limit.
No transfer limits—you can send as many files as you need.
Password protection for added security.
Files are available for 7 days, giving recipients plenty of time to download.
No registration required, making it quick and easy to use.
TransferNow is a more flexible and reliable option, especially if you’re sharing large files regularly.
Thanks for the suggestion! You’re right, both WeTransfer and TransferNow have limits (as you mentioned, TransferNow goes up to 5GB). For anything larger than 3GB or 5GB. For transfers exceeding 3GB or 5GB, Google Drive offers a viable alternative, given its 15GB limit for free accounts. I really appreciate the help.
Note: Please modify the accessibility or permission settings in Google Drive to avoid delay
