Hello,
I’m currently testing D5render for C4D and I congratulate you on the quality of your rendering!
I have a technical question. When I export a set of objects from C4D, I can’t find the structure in D5R. It works fine from Rhino with several export options (layers, objects, etc.). Therefore, it’s not possible to use the object animation options.
Another question: When I import an animation of an object in Alembic format, I can’t find how to change the animation’s starting frame. For example, I want to trigger the animation at frame 30. The “offset” function doesn’t seem to work.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me!
As for the abc file, this was a known issue in 2.11, where setting a custom animation range does not have any effect. This issue has been resolved in 2.11.1. Please update if you’re still not using the newest build. If the issue persists, I highly suggest sending us a screen recording.
Dear Clov,
Thank’s for your reply.
I’m using the latest version of the plugin, downloaded to the launcher, and I’m using the latest version of D5R.
As you’ll see in the video, objects exported from C4D cannot be animated individually.
As you will also see, the range function only moves the start time of the animation and not the animation itself.
Anyway, currently, this is C4D Plug-in’s limitation, unlike other 3d Modeling software, the plugin for C4D can only either export the whole thing or selected objects only. This will be further developed in future versions.
You must not just select the parent object of the group and export. The parent object is a null object, so in D5 you will have no geometry.
You must select all the child objects within the group and then export.
Thanks Gianluca, that’s what I’m doing. Unfortunately, I’m afraid Clov is right. The feature doesn’t seem to work on C4D at the moment. (See attached file.)
Regarding the Alembic animation offset, I’m using version 2.11, and it doesn’t work.
Thanks for the video recording. Can you send me the abc file that you used?
I can’t replicate the issue with my Alembic file; the range parameter retains after modification on my end. You can send it to me here via forum messages.
Hi Clov,
Here’s the Alembic file and a new video to help you understand.
In the Alembic file, the sequence lasts 300 frames. The animation starts at frame 90.
When I import into D5, I can start the animation earlier, but not later… why?
Thank you in advance for your feedback. Cube.2.abc (61.9 KB)
I don’t quite understand your query about this issue.
Based on my understanding and on the information you have sent. The object starts moving at 90 to 300, so anything before 90 (0 to 89) is exactly before any animation has started.
Additionally, the values for these parameters will start at 0; I think a negative value does not exist when used in this context (the same goes for C4D). I’m not sure what you’re trying to achieve with a negative value, are you perhaps hoping to have it reversed?
