[Bug] Material Picker (Eyedropper) Completely Unresponsive on AMD RX 6800

1. System Environment

  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800
  • Driver: AMD Pro Edition (Latest, Clean installed via DDU)
  • Modeling Software: Rhino (via D5 Live Sync)
  • OS: Windows 10/11 (본인 환경에 맞게 수정)

2. Issue Description The Material Picker tool (shortcut ‘I’ or clicking the UI icon) does not work at all in the viewport. The cursor successfully changes to the eyedropper icon, but clicking on any surface (either synced Rhino models or D5 basic assets) yields absolutely no response. It fails to pick the material. (Note: Drag-and-drop mapping from the asset library to the surface works perfectly fine. Only the picking action is completely ignored.)

3. Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open a completely new, blank project in D5 Render.
  2. Place a D5 basic primitive (e.g., a cube).
  3. Activate the Material Picker (‘I’).
  4. Click on the cube → Nothing happens.

4. Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken (To avoid redundant suggestions) I have already tried all the following methods, but none of them solved the issue:

  • Clean uninstalled (via DDU) and reinstalled both AMD graphics drivers and D5 Render.
  • Turned OFF Windows HDR.
  • Turned OFF Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS) and rebooted.
  • Turned OFF ‘Super Resolution’ (FSR) in D5 Preferences.
  • Set Windows Display Scaling to exactly 100%.
  • Disabled all AMD Adrenalin overlays/features (Anti-lag, Boost, etc.) and set the global profile to ‘Standard’.
  • Confirmed that the Selection Filter in D5 is set to “All”.
  • Tested in both Rendered mode and Wireframe mode.

5. Logs Attached I have attached the Zipped Log File extracted via the D5 Support Tool for your technical review. I suspect this might be a hardware raytracing (DXR) compatibility issue with the RX 6000 series architecture in the current D5 build. Please look into this.

Hi @acldna011204

We’ve been aware of this issue since the launch of 3.1.

This is a known issue, and we’re currently working on a fix. The underlying problem appears to be related to screen capture functionality , which also impacts other tools and actions that rely on it, such as

  • orbit point, gizmo
  • placing models,
  • and other similar tools/action may all get affected

Please do the workaround for now:

  1. For AMD 7000 series and AMD 9000 series 3.1 paired with the old driver version 2025.9.1, the color picker will fail to work. It is recommended that they use the latest driver to resolve this issue.

  2. For AMD 5000 series and AMD 6000 series, roll back to version 3.0.1 until we fix this issue (we’re targeting it to be included in the hotfix). Can you confirm if reverting to 3.0.1 fixes the issue?
