Blank window after starting new project (version 2.8)

When I load D5 and start a new project (or load an old project) the modeling screen is blank (see attached screenshot). When the app is minimizing I get a quick glimpse of the actual window.

How do I fix this problem?

I have a capable PC with an RTX 3090… and have a deadline for a render… !

Have tried reinstalling d5 multiple times (incl version 2.7), reinstalled the GPU drivers, did a windows update. Still no luck. Can only see the model briefly when minimising the application.

Hi, I don’t see the image you posted in the drop-down window at the bottom of your work where the Objects are loaded - Imported

Thanks for the reply. Not sure what you have identified.

Even if I load a new empty project there is no view of the scene, just a white screen. It shows a brief glimpse of the project though when the window minimises.

This problem occurred immediately after updating to version 2.8.

Thought it might be GPU driver related, but have reinstalled the drivers and tested the GPU by running Twinmotion without a problem.

Hi, Twinmotion has another type of program organization and architecture different from D5, you have to see if graphic augmentation is activated in the window properties, so you can make the graphics GPU work.
That is, go to Settings, Display and then Graphics Settings

check if it is activated

Then another thing, maybe I wasn’t clear, in the image you posted there isn’t the project loaded in the drop-down menu on your left. This makes me think, it’s like your job disappears. If the program doesn’t load it, you obviously don’t see it. but you tell me that when you iconify it it appears for a fraction of seconds. This is very strange, but you are not using the cloud, that is, you open the connection via the cloud. Usually if you use it for space or office reasons, it may happen that the connection with the cloud is missing, in this case you have to go to the program properties and put the address with the cloud connection properly.
Check these things.

Thanks for your continued help. Graphics settings have hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling enabled and the project is saved on my local OS SSD (not a cloud/shared drive).

I have done comprehensive uninstalls of both the graphics drivers and D5 software (the latter with Revo Unistaller) and reinstalls, but the problem persists.

Its odd - just noticed that the interface is correct when hovering over the icon in the dock, but instant turns to white when maximising the window:

I saw, but he only does it to this project, does he also do the same thing to your other works?
You turned off DLSS Super Resolution, usually the team recommends it, so as not to have visual problems. Then another thing, have you updated your RTX graphics card?
If it doesn’t solve itself, one of the D5 team will answer you and give you a hand, it will certainly be something that can be solved, perhaps simply, which I don’t know about.
Just the fact that the program opens and the small icon shows you this car, it must be a setting problem that escapes me at the moment.
Greetings, I wish you good luck

Hello, @ant

Thank you for your patience and understanding D5 Render, Have you checked your network speed if it is sufficient? Try to reboot the router or switch to a different network. Please provide me with your system info. Thanks

Hi @maslu This problem occurs for all files (new projects as well). I am going to have to shift to another software package as I cannot get D5 to work. Frustrating as I enjoy using D5.

Hi @ant,

I understand your frustration and we’re very sorry. Your log file has been forwarded to our development team for a thorough investigation. Please be patient while we await their response. I realize that you have deadlines to meet, and I apologize once again. We often receive similar cases from other users. While we’re waiting for the development team’s assessment, you could try these possible solutions:

  1. You could try reinstalling D5 Render to a different location, for example, on your D drive.
  2. Perform a clean installation and restart the PC.
  3. Check if the host power supply wattage is sufficient. After replacing the graphics card, the original power wattage may not be enough to run the new graphics card, causing D5 to crash or the computer to restart after running for some time. Please make sure the power supply wattage of the host computer is sufficient.

Thank you.

@maslu. Unfortunately, reinstalling drivers and the D5 app did not resolve the issue. In the end I had to do a fresh install of windows and reinstall all the software. Then D5 worked correctly.

It proved to be a frustrating loss of a day to get everythiong up and running again. D5 is my preferred rending application and I did not want to have to begin the project fresh in another application.

Thanks for you help though.

Hello, @ant

I am pleased to discover your methods for resolving this issue. We have encountered similar cases and obtained varying results when attempting to solve this particular problem, despite providing the same solution each time. It seems that not all of our solutions work for everyone.

Thank you for sharing your ways to fix it

Have a good day ahead!

@maslu it was not some much a solution as a complete reinstall of the whole system - a final resort to fix the problem. This is not a sustainable approach to fixing bugs and makes me worried that a future deadline might be met with a similar situation.

Hi @ant,

I understand your frustration, but we’re making progress towards fixing bugs and issues in the future. The development team is constantly creating new features and updates, while the tech team is doing their best to address all the user’s issues and concerns. We’re not perfect yet, but we’re making progress.

Thank you.
