All settings like objects and layer on/off status, environment and effects are not stored in scene file if we have scenes because at start D5 load scene by default.
If scene is not active during saving it shouldn’t be activated after loading ! Again interface misleading. D5 should recognize two different states - Scene and free camera.
All of this marked object states and other like environment will be lost because after reloading D5 will activate scene named “Default” which has completely different settings from my “free camera” mode :
Hi, I see where the confusion is coming from. This is actually how D5 currently handles Scenes vs Free Camera.
Right now, only Scene states reliably store things like object visibility, layers, environment, and effects. If you make changes while in Free Camera mode (like hiding objects or tweaking lighting) and don’t save or update a Scene, those changes are treated as temporary.
When you reopen the file, D5 will automatically activate a Scene (usually “Default”), which has its own saved settings. That’s why your previous setup seems to reset, your Free Camera state isn’t being restored.
I agree this can feel misleading, since what you see before saving doesn’t match what loads when you reopen. Ideally, D5 should either restore the last active state or better distinguish between Scene and Free Camera modes.
Workaround for now:
Make sure to create or update a Scene before saving to preserve your current setup.
