D5 Render Version: 2.4.2.1061
Graphics Card: RTX4090
Driver Version: 531.41 Studio
Hi, I`m using LG 32:9 monitor, D5+3DSMax workflow.
It seems that 3DSMax takes over the “priority” and D5 loses all viewport/rendering performance. Even just a “fresh” instance of 3DS Max will take over (no D5 sync turned on). When 3DSMax is closed D5 works with full potential in both viewport and rendering.
Does any have a similar experience or advice on how to solve this kind of issue ?
Thank You
Hi, mate,
Can you list your Internal Memory and CPU information? 3DS Max also requires them to run big scenes. 32GB is ok and 64GB is excellent.
Normally, when you work with other software, D5 will keep with low requirements automatically, when you go back to D5, it recovers. Make sure your hardware is good enough to run 3DS Max and D5 together.
I think I`m good with the rest of the hardware: Ryzen 9 5950x, 64GB RAM
Here are my log files both when 3dsmax is active and with 3dsmax closed: WeTransfer - Send Large Files & Share Photos Online - Up to 2GB Free
Thank you for your log files, I will tell you if there are any problems, sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you, Bruce. I appreciate it a lot.
I can’t tell what is wrong. I have tried to change drivers for 3dsmax to Nitrous Software, an OpenGL hoping to switch priority to D5 but nothing helps.
As soon as 3dsmax is started, the D5 loses FPS drastically, from 60fps to about 6-10FPS (info from D5 statistic tab).
I understand if I raise the screen resolution, fill up the scene with the hi-poly models, etc. that those things can affect the fps but, this situation is a real issue because when 3dsmax is closed then my FPS on D5 is back to normal and D5 is working without any problems. Even a 3dsmax with just an empty scene and minimized will take over priority even though
the D5 is clearly active and I’m trying to work with it and to navigate.
Another issue is about docking/snaping/maximizing the D5 window on 32:9 resolution (or ultra-wide resolutions). The D5 will not dock/snap to any zones created either by Fancy Zones (Microsoft Power Toys), or any other software for that purpose, while all other programs are normally supporting those tools.
So, my lucky guess is that those two issues are somehow related.
Hopefully, you will find the glitch and help me fix the issue.
Thank you.
In addition, it also affects render times.
Hi mate, try setting D5_immerse’s priority to Realtime or High here, then check the result. Will D5 perform differently?
Also, you can restore the settings for your video driver, and if you have some program to control the power options like Performance mode or Balance mode, please use the performance mode.
Besides, in 3ds Max, do you have renderers turned on or activated?
Hi Oliver
I did those already and it didn`t help.
I have postponed all my projects and now it`s about a week spent looking for a solution. I have tried every tip I could find on the web but nothing helps.

I have tried various setups on Nvidia Control Panel, tried with Game & Studio drivers. Nothing Helps.
No extra standalone renderers.
I tried to set 3dsmax to low priority - no change.
Hi. Is this topic still under review? My last resort will be reinstalling the whole System and I still have concerns that the issue will reoccur.
Hi prodanicd, sorry for the inconveience caused by the problem. To confirm, the problem started to happen after you switching to 32:9 monitor or updating D5 Render to 2.4.2, or it always happens on your computer (I think you used D5 2.3 in the past as well)?
We do not have other suggestions that may work since all the above did not work. Can we schedule a time for remote access? Our tech team will try to figure out the issue cause.
Hi Oliver
Thank you for taking care of my problem.
Since I`m prepared to reinstall my System and I would like to avoid it, remote assistance from your team would be great.
I`ll be available from 16.00 CET and happy to give you access.
Please, let me know if I have to prepare/install any application for the support.
Once again, thank you for your quick reply and great support.

Update info:
After reinstalling the whole System (windows 10 Pro) and all the fresh applications, we are back on the issue
I guess there is nothing more we can do about it. The 3dsmax is taking a lot of GPU resources by default but I was kind of hoping it will let go some when D5 is active.
Seams that 3dsmax has a stronger than D5
if you are still willing to look at the problem via remote access any time you schedule will be ok.
Thank You.

Hi guys. Can we schedule a time for remote access? I really need some technical help from your side to confirm if this normal behavior. It is impossible to work and for each change, I have open and then close 3dsmax to have normal fps on D5.
Best Regards
Dragan
Update on the topic: Finally I managed to make it work. I turned off all options for 3DSMAX in Nvidia Control Panel and D5 2.6 works with full FPS!!! The new 3ds Max LiveSync also works like a charm. There are some freezes with Vray materials but as I can see Corona works just fine. 3DSMax will freeze but D5 remains active. l’ll try to turn back on each option in Nvidia Control Panel for 3dsmax to identify what was causing the low FPS issue and I`ll be back with info. THANK YOU guys for another great update!
Thank you mate, OK, it seems we need to customize the settings on Nvidia control panel to reproduce the problem.
