2 issues - Assets icon greyed out, long save times

Hi,

Firstly, our model is loaded into D5 from Revit with the current Revit plugin.

Not sure at what point of the workflow this happened, but the issue we are encountering is that during the course of working on the model, the ‘Assets’ icon has greyed out. So we cannot click on it to access any assets to place in the model. We assume exiting the model will resolve the issue but yet to test that out because saving/ exiting/ opening is a looonnnnngggggg process at the moment. Which leads to the second issue…

The amount of time it takes to save the current model is a little over 10 minutes! We had the auto save set to 15mins, but had to change that as half the day was spent waiting for the model to save. The .drs file itself is only 1.6mb with the project directory totalling about 1.56Gb.

The views we are running are external, so the assets in the model (a 6 storey apartment block) are primarily vegetation, cars and people. We look at some of the asset heavy models on the website, eg forest scenes and wonder how long it takes to save those?! We have nowhere near the amount of information in our model.

Is there a way to reduce the save times?

Regards,

Jo

Thanks for reaching out.

When in rendering (image or animation) mode, the library icon is greyed out (not clickable). If this is not the case, please send us the logs file to locate the cause. Also, is the icon always grey? Or is it no longer grey after waiting for a while?

How to find log files - Please follow the steps in that page, then send the exported log file (which is called zziplog) to support@d5techs.com with problem description.

Regarding the slow saving of files, is there a specific scene that is experiencing this problem? Or is it a problem for many scenes? The common reason for this problem is that the scenes are complex and have a high video memory and memory usage when running. Please click on View in the D5 menu bar to show the statistics and then take a screenshot of the scene data at the top of the D5 screen. Also, what is the memory usage in Task Manager and the video memory usage in GPU-Z when the scene is running?

Thanks
