Workspace possible in cloud instead of local?

Hi there,

I have the following question: I work on both a desktop and a laptop on my D5 projects. I transfered/ relocated the workspace to a OneDrive folder (from my desktop, which was the first device I used D5 on), so I would be able to acces my local assets independend of which device I am working on. However, everytime the setting on my laptop (can´t check the dektop now but I believe that one is fine) swicthes back to local (c:) which means I can´t access my assets. Any thoughts on how to solve this?

Thanks,
Mark

Hi @abenmark72

D5 Render’s Workspace is primarily designed for local storage. Using cloud storage services, such as OneDrive, directly as the active Workspace location is not officially recommended. This may cause issues such as workspace path resets, missing assets, or sync conflicts across devices.

It is recommended to keep the Workspace on a local drive and use cloud storage only for backups or manual synchronization.

Thanks Ela and what a pity… So it is impossible to work with two workstations on the same project? Is there an easy way to transfer assets from one to the other?

Thanks,
Mark

Hi @abenmark72

It depends on which version of D5 Render you’re currently using. For your reference, you can check out our User Manual here for guidance: https://docs.d5render.com/user-guide/assets/how-to-manage-resources-in-local-library

After installing D5 on your other device, ensure you copy your Workspace folder to it. Then you can reassign the workspace folder location via D5 Launcher.
