"Workspace data update failed" & "insufficient disk space" problem

Hi everyone,

D5 Render obviously spends a lot of time improving render quality, assets and tools. We see it in this new version 2.5 trailer and I downloaded it impatiently as soon as it came out. But as soon as I started, I got a surprise:

“Workspace data update failed. The workspace data needs to be updated, and there is insufficient disk space, Please re-select a location to set the workspace.”

2023-08-03 2-5 Upgarede Sonası Disk Yetersiz Uyarısı

It mentions insufficient disk space even though I have 63.8GB of free space on my disk, but it doesn’t specify how much space I need to allocate. I am currently unable to use D5 Render.

1- Is there anyone other than me who has been warned like this?

2- Dear D5 Render Team, can you give some information about this?

D5 Render needs to revolutionize this:
“Space occupied by the project files”

Working with D5 creates many, many thousands of files on the disk. It should be saved in a single file like other software, or offered as an option to this user. Thousands of .png files lengthen disk backup jobs. Considering the minor revisions of one of our architectural projects, 10-20GB of space takes up disk space only for D5 files. Considering this number for our 10 architectural projects, I do not think that D5 Render software can be used for architectural offices other than those who do freelance ArchViz works. For example, it is not acceptable for imported models to be embedded, which inflates the file size. I think that an option such as “embedded or not” should be presented to the user during the import process.

I can give an example like this:

I re-created a project that I started and completed with D5 with another software. Comparison of two separate studies:
In the first screenshot (1) single file and 211,420 KB on the left,
on the right 4274 files, 3020 folders and 5.13 GB.
I hope that was descriptive enough.
Also, in the other screenshot (2), there are 6 folders of 32.7 GB in total for revisions (E01, E02, E03…) in the folder where the 5.13 GB D5 file is located. 16,577 files and 11,841 folders.
When we calculate this for all the projects we have done during the year, there are unbelievable sizes. These thousands of files and folders extend the synchronization time very, very much in data backup.

At the end of the day, when we install the new version, the only reason it gives the message “insufficient disk space” is actually itself :grinning:

I’m looking forward to the developments on this subject, I wish everyone a good day.

Hi mate, thank you so much for your comments on the workspace, we also see your post on Facebook. According to our product manager, We will consider making archive compression in 2.6. Sorry for the inconvenience now.

Haci tamamen ayni sorunu yasiyorum, Google`de arastirma yaparken senin sorunda denk geldim. Bir cozum bulabildin mi acaba ? Simdiden tesekkurler

Have you guys solved the problem? I am having the same trouble, apparently 7 months after someone already complained about it… Any hopes about a fix ?

Hi! The “clear data” can help you delete the backup file and the data of the imported models which has not been placed in the scene.
