Workflow for Editing D5 Model Assets

Hi,

I love some of the pendant light model objects that come with D5. However, I always need to adjust their height, and often, the suspension wire/cord is too short to reach the ceiling.

Is there any way to modify the D5 native assets? I’m curious how folks handle this type of issue.

Thanks,

Jay

Hi there,
The size of the asset library model can be adjusted through:

  • Parameters Sidebar: Modify the size using the parameters in the right sidebar.

  • Scale Tool: Use the scale tool located in the upper left corner of the viewport.

Yes, I know that. However, scaling in the Z direction would also stretch (distort) the body of the lamp in order to lengthen the cord.

Hi there,

Unfortunately, we have not incorporated a feature in D5 where you can freely adjust the parameters of the assets. The size modification through this settings does distort its form when this button is crossed out

otherwise, it would modify the entirety of its form (similar to scale). For now, I do suggest finding a similar 3D Model where the cord is separate from its bulb/body so it can be freely adjusted in D5.

Additionally, this feature has already been considered and is included in our subsequent releases, although we can’t give you a specific time frame of when it is. Thank you for your understanding.

No problem! I understand this is likely a lower priority. I was more just wondering if I was missing a trick.
