Hello, this setting is usually used in some work environments. For example, your office has some settings on the network that only allow you to browse specific websites, at that time, if you want to use D5 normally, you need to let IT set up a proxy for you.

What about a home setup
Usually you won’t need to use this setting at home. The proxy is that some office networks can only access the executive website, so you need to set the proxy for the D5 client to allow it to download the material properly.
